If you have the will power you can quit on your own. It is however, very difficult mainly because of the legality and availability of alcohol. Whatever you do, don't give in. OTC Benadryl can help you sleep when you are clean. Also, seeing a doc would be good.

AA does help stay off the booze. Find a location near you:

Don't worry you don't have to say anything there if you don't want to. All you have to do is show up. The people are usually very friendly and know exactly what you are going through.

Get to 0 drinks ASAP. And good luck! Start counting the days you've been clean.

THIS is a disease, most will agree.

Most will agree, will power will not cure a disease.

If all I do is take the away the alcohol, I am the same, now w/o alcohol.

THAT kind of life is not for me thanks!

I NEED TO BUILD A WHOLE NEW CHARACTER!

Will power does not do that for me.............that has been my experience.

I'm not sure why I'm posting because I have yet to attempt any withdrawals from anything but felt there will be more of a withdrawal for you from public life. The automatic high of a screaming croud leads to that lifestyle in the first place and even without the alchohol you'll have the additional withdrawal of not having the immediate appreciation of fans which could compound the original high you used to get from it all.

Just a thought... because I'd hate to see you do the work of becoming sober and still feeling like you're missing something else. Better to figure out what you're really looking for versus just looking to be sober.

a strong will got me in this mess in the first place... why did i drink?... why did i continue to drink?... why couldnt i put the drink down?... my will + addictions= misery and destruction for others, and myself...

i know better now... i found a way that works for me... a attitude adjustment, a emotional rearangment and a new inner peace... life is stil there... bring it on...

BB, i'm a drummer too... and i know what you mean... been there, done that...

i did the house cow (coming out of withdrawls) too... it blew... and do not reccomend it for anyone...

BB, i'm stil shake'n the hard times loose... i did it cause i asked for one day sober, after a lifetime of useing... almost four years later... i'm playing drums again, and love'n it...

you can do it BB..

BB, you know what the fulcrum of a drumstick is dont ya?... its the balance point of the stick... i am finding the balance point to my life... you can too...

good wishes to you BB...

Zildjan 7A Dips do it for me now... their well balanced... lol...
