Hi Everyone,

Today is my first day that I'm not going to drink or drug. I don't feel to bad(yet), but I'm very tired today. I also quit smoking cigarettes today and I'm on the patch. So that's probably why I so tired. I'll be back on here latter to check in. Evenings are when I like to drink so I'll be typing on here and in my journal.

Congrats on day 1 Barb! Recovery is a one day at a time program. Go to bed sober tonight, wake up sober tomorrow, then do it over again.

Are you planning on attending AA or any type of recovery program? For many of us that is the only solution, but of course you're free to do it the way you want. I wish you the best and hope to hear more from you.

Hi Scott,

Yes, I'm going to go back to AA. I've been in and out of the rooms for years. The last time I had any good sobriety was in 1992. I had over a year then.

Everyday that each of us wake up we are on day 1 for our HP knows that we can only handle one day at a time. Glad that you are here. Hope that you keep posting and keep sharing your recovery!

Hi there!! I am glad for your decision!! It takes so much courage to change. I started the patch today too..cigarette somking is darn near illegal anyway so we better get a start on it....!! Check on ya later!

I'm still hanging in there. I'm drinking some herbal tea right. I was drinking my rum and cokes at this time. I usually drink a couple before supper also and I didn't. I ended up making dinner earlier so we ate by 6:00. I actually liked that. I've been getting tired of eating so late. I'm also going to bed earlier tonight. I had my days and night all mixed up. I would stay up until at least 4:00AM everyday and not get up until at least 12:00 noon or latter. Well at least the days almost over and I haven't drank today. It's been along time since I haven't had a drink everyday.

I'm doing OK. Still alot of fog in my head. I have to force myself to talk on here. I'm going to start a new thread for day 2.
