Please forgive me
I'm sorry to be a whiner, but I think I'm at rock bottom. I drink between half a bottle and a bottle of vodka a day. I still hold a job, but I feel like ****. I just want to get alcohol out of my life. I want to be a normal person. I am such a loser.
No you are not a looser you are probably a alcoholic. That is a big difference. Remember that the first one is too many. it is like a man takes a drink, the drink takes a drink, and the drink takes the man. WE need to obtain from the first one in order to stay on recovery. I will send some good thoughts your way.
A thousand-mile journey begins with one step.
Get some meetings under your belt and "keep" doing what works.
Hi Scotty,
As Vic said, you are not a loser, you are an alcoholic. It's believing the self-talk like that, that keeps us a prisoner of alcohol. Break out of the cycle and take a step toward recovery.
There is lots of support here.

Thank you both. I do appreciate it. I'm still the scum of the universe imho. I have had so many things given to me in life and here I just drink them away. I need some way to make up for my mistakes and throwing my life away through alcohol.

Michael...no matter what you feel right now...you will always be a winner in my book! I'll never forget the thrill of getting those flowers from you when I was in the nursing home..."all the way from Japan", I told the nurses and aides!
A "loser" doesn't go out of his way to make life better for others. Now, it's time to make life better for yourself...and, you can do it...you know you can...I know you can...everyone here believes in you...please believe in yourself!

Dude, a looser, I think not... I have fallen twice in the past couple of months and I know how hard it can be to get back up and dust ourselves off but we have to try, the other option just doesnt work... Hang in there with me, I think we both could use the support.
Day 9 today...
I believe in fate and destination, but so much of that lies in our own hands, If you know what you want, just go on out and get it, don't give up, If you want love, you've got to give a little, If you want faith, you just believe a little, If you want peace, turn your cheek a little, you see you've got to give to live! (Van Halen/Sammy Hagar)

You are not a loser!!!
You've been around the forum before, and some of us have missed you. Keep posting! It sounds like you need recovery. Keep coming back here, and you will find some experience, strength and hope.
I hope you can get sober. If you want to get sober, you can get sober.
If you really, really want it... it's possible. It isn't easy, but it is possible.
AA really helped me get sober, and I felt like I was a hopeless case. At my bottom, I still had my job but I felt like *****. SR and AA helped me turn my life around.
Keep posting and hanging around SR. I hope you find some answers here. Being an Alcoholic isn't the end of the world. You know hhat you have to do.
I'm wishing you strength, hope and courage.

Hi Miachel...
Have you considered going back to your doctor?
That is what worked for you before.
I have no idea what is possible in Japan.
If you are killing yourself with alcohol..
you may want to return to the States for treatment.
No job is worth your health and sanity.

I've got 66 days today, and this is only because of my Higher Power whom I choose to call God (God, for short) and AA.
You're not a loser. Just a human being with a disease.
I so remember where you are at now. I was there. You are not a loser, you've just finally reached the point of decision making. You have come here and are seeking help with that. That is all positive. A loser would continue to drink and try to ignore the problem.
Peace, Levi

Hi Michael.......you are the best person you have just for today.......YOU ARE NOT A LOSER..........You have a problem just like the rest of us.......
Get to a meeting and talk to all those you can and make your voice heard............you can do it and I know you can pull out of this rut....you did it before........You are a good person and have done so much for others in the program.......
Look what you did for rae.....What a nice guy you are......
Keep coming back and know you have lots of friends here that care about you.....................I live too far away to come talk to you in person.....But you can listen to me now and others that have been your friends ........
All I can say is Get to meetings, work the steps over and start the New Year out fresh..............Make this new start part of your New Years Resolution...............Walk up that mountain after picking yourself up........Don't stay in that hole you keep tripping in....................it won't do you any good and you will stay dirty...............Clean up and move on with your program in a better way than you have before.......Keep the chin up little boy......................Lots of Hugs to you from my fuffled feathers.......Little Penguin

I felt like a loser at all times of the day after drinking for so long. Just remember how you felt before starting this habit and I hope that will get you through.
Good luck and let's beat this crappy addiction.

Hi beam Me Up Scotty,
This is my first post on this forum, so I hope it goes through ok.
I have only four days sober, so I know how you feel. Alcohol does make us
feel like losers sometimes, but that is not the case. Most people who know
me think I'm a decent guy, yet I drink and party with the best of them. It
is becoming a real problem for me, so I'm glad I found this site and am glad
you're here, for it was your present plight that gave me the courage to post.
You don't even know me, yet you've helped me, by giving me that courage,
so the name loser is simply not true for you or any of us. We are struggling
with the same problem, but that only makes us human, not losers. Chin up,
my new friend and know that you've helped me today.
