The Spirit of Christmas
Many months ago, I became acquainted here in Sober Recovery with a gal who goes by the name "MyThreeSons"...we immediately hit it off because we both live in New Jersey. We've been talking on the phone pretty regularly, although we've never met face-to-face. But, a little while ago...
Well...if I can stop the "waterworks" long enough (tears of joy/disbelief)...I must tell you who called while I was on the phone with my sister. The caller said, "I didn't want to frighten you by ringing your bell...you don't even have to open the door if you'd rather not. I'm on Maple Avenue with some food for you from Christmas Eve."
I knew right away from the voice that it was Paula! I started crying and told her, "You came all this way...I'll wheel myself to the front door."
There she was with a big shopping bag full of Tupperware containers! "Yes, Virginia...there is a Santa Claus!" We hugged, and told each other how good it was to finally see one another. She is such an absolute sweetheart! Bless her!
I just had to call my sister...she said, "You see, Rae...that's what Christmas is all about." Thank you, Paula...for reminding me.
