Living Life in Recovery...
sure is teaching me to accept people as they are warts and all or to leave what they have to offer if I find them and there behaviour to be off putting or offensive.
Its really back to basics as I think about it, take what you like and leave the rest. Just learning to apply this to people.
back to work, recovery, friends and life just as it is.

I agree with this thought. It's so easy to get caught up with someone's behavior that we don't like rather than just accepting it for what it is and moving on. Sometimes you might encounter someone who is just generally a person you wouldn't want to be around at all and other times you encounter a friend on an off moment. In my (perhaps naiive) opinion, the key to good recovery is being able to differentiate and not cut off the good person because of a bad moment.
I'm still learning.

I needed to read this as this is something that I struggle with so much. I still allow others to rent too much space in my head or allow their actions to dictate my feelings. I am still a work in progress. The good thing is now at least I'm aware of it and can pull back and then make a choice as to how I want to let this affect me. Many times at that point I can go ahead and let it go. I'd like to get to a point where that is automatic but I'm just not there yet.
Thanks Kevin for bringing this up. I hope we can get quite a discussion going on this.
Hugs,
Kellye

I was shopping this morning when I drove past a friend (normal friend, I see her rarely) I tooted and waved and she just scowled at me. I have no idea what thats about. So I called here and left a message saying "... whats up? I have no idea and won't unless you talk to me..." no reply yet, but it did not upset me and thats great. Its not my problem or my business or my problem so I did the right thing and then let it go.
