another thankful newbie
hi everybody,
I just posted a lengthier thread in the Relationships forum, but I wanted to introduce myself on the Newcomer forum too
My name is Rachel and I've been dating an alcoholic/addict for over a year now - he went into rehab and stayed clean and sober for almost 5 months, before he relapsed last month. I told him that I couldn't take it if all "that crap" happened again, and that I'd have to leave him. So this time I did.
It's been hard, and I miss him terribly, and I've been worried sick, but he's checked himself into another rehab. I didn't expect to hear from him, but I have (indirectly, other people have called on his behalf)...
My heart wants to go back to him, but my head is telling me that I'm just going to keep getting hurt, and that I'll never be able to trust him again. It's all very confusing and I was very thankful to find this website tonight. I wish I'd found it sooner! I'd love to hear from anyone with any thoughts on my situation - thanks, and take care.

I agree with Carol, he needs to help himself first. You need to continue living and you never know what the future may hold. I am sure it must be really tough and heart wrenching but you made a good decision. HUGS
