Hi everyone!

I'm actually just starting this today. I'm not familiar with this type of thing. Well, just to let you know a little about me. I'm 24 years of age. I basically love to get drunk and I'm trying to stop. It's become a hindrance to my family life as well as my own health. I've gained a lot of weight and have been unrelentlessly mocked because of my affliction for drinking. I hope to squash this addiction, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to.

Wishing for the best,
Starinthesky

Get some help. Get into some support group. Know that you are not alone. There's just a whole lot of chemistry that goes along with our addictions. I suggest getting educated about alcoholism because I honestly believe education is the key that opens the doors to recovery.

We always think it's our personal weakness or fault. In lots of cases I think it is, only because we refuse to stop bending our elbow. Get to know your enemy. Learn the facts. chances are if you're really informed about exactly what alchohol is about and how it can change your metabolism, you'll get totally grossed out and truly want to beat the beast that is currently kicking your azz.

Welcome,
The time to stop is now. It does get worse with time. I so wish I would have had the courage to stop in my 20's because it got worse over time. Try not to beat yourself up. What is done is done, move forward. Inch by inch, I am 43 days sober and feel very proud about that. This forum is very supportive. Best of luck to you and keep coming back.
