Powerful Forces

Hi everyone. I have an idea that might make for an interesting thread. I'm not sure what forum it belongs under but I thought it could go in the newcomers area to provide inspiration to those who are trying to quit using.

Here's my question: Have you had supernatural experiences such as dreams, signs, amazing coincidences, messages that you could only explain as coming from an HP, God, psychic energy (or whatever your belief system)? Have these experiences influenced your recovery?

I've had some very powerful dreams since I started questioning my drinking and I had one last night that was just weird and amazing.

not to bore people with it and to make the long dream short, I was taking part in a buddhist ritual (I don't know lots about Buddhism) and I was hypnotized, dunked underwater and told that I have a very strong and resourcesful soul. Suddenly I was surrounded by baby goldfish that I knew represented a new beginning. I was then told to look out the window and shout out my dream goal in life. I said "I want to write comedy" (don't laugh, its a weird goal) and a crowd of people broke into applause and said I could do anything with my life. Then I woke up.

Anyway, I feel inspired today and I hope the feeling lasts. has anyone else experienced powerful oddities such as these? Have they inspired your recovery?

Certainly...they happen often to me.

I call them.....
God Shots
My first happened when I was newly sober...

I walked 15 city blocks to hook up to Food Stamps.

I was #13 in the stack of applications at 9 meaning I would miss a job interview at 11.

I asked the woman in charge if I could “buck the line” explaining why.

“Sit down..we do not do that..EVER!”

So...I sat... teary...saying the Serenity Prayer.

The woman left the desk...a man sat down...shuffled the files.

I was called next. ZAP!!

I ran out...the needed book in hand..there is a taxi driven by a member from my home group. ZAP!!

Paul drops me off at the restaurant and I got the job. ZAP!!

Thanks for the topic...

Dreams can be powerful motivators.

What you mention in your dream, about being dunked, implies baptism. It doesn't necessarily mean the traditional Christian baptism, however. Interesting.

I've never had an experience that I felt required a supernatural explanation.

I have. I call them "signs" and I believe in them. Dreams, certainly. Other little things that happen in life. Some may say chance or coincidence or reading meaning into things, but I think there's more to it. And I absolutely think that they're tied in with your subconscience as well.
