Welcome to sR!

Many many of us have had false starts on our way to
sobriety.
Please go back to your AA meetings and share how upset
you are.

You too can quit...Blessings

Thumbs up

(( sewyellow ))) Lots of us don't get it the first time.. you'll find tons of support from your fellow AAers. Don't be afraid. Lots of times relapse is exactly what you need to set your goals straight.

I got sober because my guy was going to leave me if I didn't. That was 5 years ago and it still remains the best decision I have EVER made in my life...

You can do it!!!

thank you for responding so quickly. I am looking forward to be a part of this forum. Tomorrow will be a new day and I want to take it one day at a time. I hate relapse. It seems to be a part of my life these days. Life just sucks.

Hi Sewyellow,

You can do this!!! The only thing that you have to worry about is today, tomorrow will worry about itself. Just concentrate on doing just what's right in front of you, one thing at a time. Slow down and just know that all you have to do is be willing to do whatever it takes. This can work!!!

I am not abiding by the rules of aa.
Welcome to SR, sewyellow. First of all...there are no "rules of aa"...just a lot of helpful suggestions...and, if you hang around long enough, they'll actually make sense after awhile. The very first one I heard was, "Don't drink and make meetings." If you only concentrate on that one for a while, you'll see how easily those days
one day at a time
will add up.

Hang in there.

Hi Im Sharon and Im an Alcoholic.

By the Grace of my HP and people
like u here in SR i havent had a
drink of alcohol since 8-11-90.
For that i am truely grateful.

Welcome to SR.

First, when i was getting sober
It was suggested that i get
rid of all the alcohol in my house.

I was in rehab for 28 days when
my spouse took care of that for me.
He knew that when i was released
and got home, and not knowing
what frame of mind i was in...
alcohol was not going to be there
as a temptation.

Does ur boyfriend drink?

Then the next thing suggested is
to attend 90 meetings in 90 days...

As u will notice, I didnt TELL you what
to do...no one should NEVER TELL u
what to do....but by suggestions only
to guide u.

If u have the DESIRE to stop drinking
and the WILLINGNESS to go to any lengths
to stay sober then try following some of the
suggestions pssed on to u....

The 90 meetings in 90 days....I heard often that
u should hear something within that time to
help u stay sober....if u are not thoroghly
convienced about what u hear then they told me
they would gladly refund my misery.

There r many wonderful caring folks here
in SR ready to guide u and help u. Feel
free to ask questions if u dont understand
something. We r here to help u.

Thanks for letting me share.

the only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking ....

doesn't say anything about having to succeed.

if you have a sponsor - that's what they're for. If you don't yet, that's what the phone list from your first meeting is for.

You're not alone.

Sewyellow,

You didn't break a rule of AA when you drank.

The rules of AA are the Twelve Traditions, that make it possible for the fellowship and all the steps of the programme to be there for you and me.

Take things (in life) nice and slow like Jenny says. Once (not my first time in AA) I made 45 meetings in 50 days and it felt really good. The variety of meetings and members was particularly beneficial as well as the frequency. Hence intensiveness and extensiveness all at the same time.
