i think if you liked "A Million Little Pieces" then you should read "Broken" by William Cope Moyers.....everything he went through really happened the way he says it did.

It's a good proof that it's possible to recover without the 'help' of 12 Step programs.

if you assume he's not "fabricating" that part of his story too

Perhaps it was a work of fiction, yes, but the question is: could this story be true? Answer: yes it could very well be. That's enough for me.

While Frey has admitted to exagerating parts of the story, I think A Million Little Pieces is a remarkable book about recovery.
I wish Frey well, and hope his recovery remains strong.
Because, after all, that IS the bottom line, isn't it?

I liken his memoir to Aesop's Fables or the Bible. These books tell "A" truth, but, not necessarily "the" truth. My son is a heroin addict. I "saw" my son in Frey's character. A truth was clearly available to those who want to see it in the monograph of Frey's recovery.

Shalom!

personally, my recovery is based on honesty....what is the point of getting clean if you are still gonna lie cheat and steal? Frey may or may not be using dope, but he is still acting like a junky.

Personally, I know no one who can remember incidences 100% -- particularly if they were stoned out of their minds.

We've already been through the whole "Bash Frey" party. I have no wish to do so again. Furthermore, I've witnessed Presidents, congressmen, priests, historians and other authors as well as parents who have done far worse and received MUCH less condemnation.
"Let he who is without sin..."
You all can fill in the rest.

My wish for him is no different that that for my own son -- and for each member of SR for that matter. May all those who still suffer find recovery.

Shalom!
