1,076 days and NEVER quitting!
Since I've been very busy with life outside of Recovery I realized that I've been neglecting my Recovery. Soooooooo...I'll make a pact right here between us, our HP and Recovery itself:
I'll log in and post at least once every day here, One Day At A Time.
I've never quit. Just found myself living life on life's terms and neglecting our spirituality. And we all certainly know what happens when a spiritual way of life isn't lived.

Hello all! ((((((((((((DQ A-Z)))))))))))))))
Love you all--thinking of those still struggling and celebrating with those who are still not quitting. Keep on keepin' on!!!

you know what's amazing? tonight i just turned on the tv and there was a story about a man who was a friend of Bill W's on "History Detectives" on PBS. great inspiration on a friday heading to the weekend.
the man apparently funded Bill W during the early days of AA, when the entire organization was floundering. never took any glory but was a wonderful friend to the program. what impressed me the most was that Bill W. continued to work on building this fledgling organization through some very lean years. he and his wife moved 52 times in 2 years--not being able to afford a home of their own. now that is "not quitting"!
the entire show is available free on line at the pbs.org site under history detectives. i don't know if this site link will be allowed or not, but it is worth reading.

Good Morning ((DQer's))
((Arura)) Glad you're back at it!! We're all in this together!!
All I know is, alcohol is more powerful then I am. It has been proven many times. It makes me feel worse then I felt in the first place!! The solutions to lifes problems are not found in the bottom of the bottle, for me. I just have to keep reminding myself of that!! (because my brain, tries to tell me something different).

Don't Quit!
When things go wrong as they sometimes will
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest, if you must, but don't you quit...
Life is queer, with its twists and turns
As everyone of us sometimes learns
And many a failure turns about
When he/she might have won had he/she stuck it out
Don't give up though the pace seems slow
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell how close you are
It may be near when it seems so far
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit...
I have been advised that the author is:
Larry S Chengges
Or
Sam Candelaria
Or
Clinton Howell
Or
Edgar Gest
Or
Frank Collins
Or
Gerard Haughey...
ok, so what the hell does it realy matter who wrote it... its inspiring...
we have one vote for larry from trishsis... lol!
anyone know for shure???

About the Don't Quit poem Rusty...hmmm about a year or so ago, I received a pm from someone on the boards, can't remember who it was now, anyway the message said it was their grandmother who wrote the poem, they didn't mention her name though. It's a keeper isn't it?

Recently I've been excercising by walking and can do about a mile in seventeen minutes. That's when my disease kicked in and tried to tempt me to walk downtown and enter one of those Godless taverns.
Sadly, there are no meetings there in that town. At least, not yet. ;>
It was there that I realized that it was merely a test of our daily reprieve. So I prayed on it and my disease was kept at bay.
Prayer works. It really does. Now if I can summon the courage to call some numbers I may be back at a meeting.
Still sober and never quitting. I thank you all for being here with me. And I pray that we're all here for the newcomer who wishes to recover.
Yours in Recovery, Mark B.
Awesome poem!

I don't know if this will be on topic but a rather poetic song called "Resist" by Rush really inspires me to stay off the liquor. Unfortunately, since it's a copyrighted work I don't know if I can post the words here.
Resisting John Barleycorn. Watching "Walk The Line". Never quitting. Here right now until I logoff. :-)
