Hi Brittany,

Before anyone tells you that 12-Step programs are spiritual, and that your HP can be a doorknob, check out our Secular Connections forum.

And to answer your question:

LifeRing Secular Recovery

SMART Recovery

SOS - Secular Organization for Sobriety

Narcotics Anonymous is a spiritual, not religious program.....I am an agnostic and have been in NA for the last 19 months clean, and I have never even once stepped foot in a church or opened a bible

Some people in NA are religious people but, at least in my area, there are TONS of people with same views as you and me that have been in the program for 10 plus years clean....religion is not mandetory for recovery, no matter what path you choose.

Thanks Blake. I should have mentioned that there are some who are able to secularize and co-exist. I haven't been able to do it. I feel too much like the black sheep. It's been a while since I've tried, and maybe I'll try again, since I don't have secular meetings in my area. But, if feels like going to church, when I know damn well I don't believe. I think this thread of yours may be helpful to some others reading this:

Brittany,

I myself am not a Christian. However, I do find AA meetings helpful. At meetings I do not feel any pressure to change my religious beliefs or to accept Christianity as my religion. I gain moral support from the others, and respect each individual's preferences. Going to any kind of meeting is helpful, especially when you are feeling down. Good luck to you.

I would say im Agnostic, Buhuddist,....so were do i fit...???

I go to NA meetings sometimes...!, n only sometimes do i feel that the 'God' issue gets in the way for me,?...I found that some step work was difficult as beiging of a non relgiuos person...!
Its not that i dont belive in god its that im not trading places with drugs for religion,...just my opioin,...!
Im in Recovery to find the me, that was never allowed to to be free,...and i will look n consider most things .....but since ive come on the web im chuffed to bits that there are different routes to Recovery,

...but im not ever forgetting my frist meeting when i realized i was'nt alone...!

Thank You for the Links...

Whatever gets you thro the day clean n sober is the one for you,...n that might be abit from one n abit from another,...the most important thing is to use them tools you learn in daily life,...!

Like changning enviroment, changeing routines, changeing bad habits, behaviuors, reactions...!
Im so grateful to find new tools for Recovery on the web, as im in Britain, n we only have NA...!
