Awwww, come on AL. Even grumpier than Scrooge me saw your tree pic and felt nice and warm inside. You’re going to love it. Up until just a few weeks back, I was all set for a Xmas day alone, but got lucky. We’ve made our own luck, though, for reasons we’re on SR in the first place. You/we are doing well, AL.

There are actually ParkRuns on Xmas day here. I might go if not muddy - I’m prone to twisting ankles. I guess even Xmas day won’t stop AL’s walks. Look forward to any pics

Edit - maybe a bug or my phone isn’t refreshing, but I’m sure I saw a nice pic of a Christmas tree from AL just now. Now it’s vanished! Anyway, enjoy Xmas

Page 1 of the thread Hodd is that tree. I did my one outside tree too but might have to wait a few years to have it grow another bit. Christmas swim here but i will only be an on looker, its just too cold for me
Thank goodness everyone is in good form, the inlaws arrived last night from France and its so far so good in the house. This is when those walks will become even more important 😅. A bit of me time. Half day tomorrow then off until Thursday.

Walked home in a massive thunder and lightning storm today torrential rain sky bright with flashes but dark at the same time with black clouds. I jumped at one stage as it cracked just above me. Really loud. Exciting stuff
We celebrate a bit of Christmas today like they do in France, sparkling water with apple cordial for me. 3rd sober one for me but it can be very annoying when every celebration on tv is involving alcohol. Brings only seconds of remembering romantic life with a glass of something but that second can be upsetting, then reality kicks back in and i remember what its really like. Isn't it awful this hold it has, this AV waiting quietly in the background testing the water for any weakness or belief that we would be ok to have just one. Enough of that talk. Sobriety rules 🙃.
So i hope you all have a great time tomorrow merry Christmas, happy holiday you know yourself enjoy the day sober and happy.

Merry Christmas all.
Just after a nap, as usual on this day eating too much food is the norm. Got out for a quick stroll beforehand, there was no one around. Im still amazed by the storm yesterday, the lightning going off just above me and the crack of thunder i was shaking i got such a fright😅. People must have thought i was crazy walking in such conditions.
Today there wasn't much going on just 2 black back gulls squabbling over a fish one had caught.

Lightning struck a transformer 100m away from me once at an open restaurant on a mountaintop in the Philippines. I was taking a video of the (tropical) storm at the time from an open area, and you can see / hear the crash-boom and then see it go all jiggly and me yelling in the background.. haha. Knocked out all the power to the place. Lightning is not something to mess around with so be careful if it's near you - 5 sec or less between flash and sound means it is very close (within a mile).

Merry Christmas AL!

Beautiful morning and sunrise this 26th of December. No one around just a few determined cyclists waiting for the rest of their group to arrive.
I'm off to look after my brother now, he put his back out a few days ago and lives in the countryside with his wife who cant drive so just about to head out with a delivery of the essential milk and bread.
Beats the usual all day pub experience on Stephens day, dont know how i did it when i look back now.

Much prefer this life i have now.

Merry Christmas AL and all who post in this thread. It's a shame that the Thanks button has gone on strike as I used it quite a bit in this thread.

Will you be carrying on this thread once 1 January arrives? It'll be a year since you started the original thread and I love looking at the excellent scenic pictures that you post so I'm hoping you continue the thread.

Too right. Hope it’s back soon, Robbie. Hope you had/are having a great Xmas.

I’m having to pinch myself about my Xmas. I got in trouble (rightly so) a few weeks back for my dating thread, but things have gone well and I had/am having an Xmas like I wouldn’t have imagined a few months or even weeks ago. It’s amazing how far a little positivity and goodwill goes - things I lacked as a drinker. The benefits of sobriety go on and on. I told my new other half a bit of what I was like as a drinker (just grumpy and self centred) and her face fell. I never want to go back to being that person.

As for AL, you’re further proof of the benefits. Bizarrely I like the colder pictures but you’re inspiring us lot with your get up and go attitude.
