That's the raw image data, Dusty, and by now it may be corrupted. Line endings and things can mess them up. I have never had any luck posting images directly into an SR post. It's better to copy the image and upload it to it a hosting site (even a free one) then post a link to it in your SR post.

Good morning all! That was funny, Dusty.

Bad sleep last night, from too much sugar and carbs yesterday. I tossed and turned and wasn’t even worried about anything in particular. I really have to stop eating anything but natural sugars in fruit and foods like Japanese yams. Oh, now that i think about it I had a couple cups of coffee with my tenant also, while repairing something, so I bet that had something to do with it. He makes it really strong. Have to watch that, lol.

Sleep is so important - as most of you know it’s one of the main reasons I quit drinking, along with anxiety, and for the most part it has been greatly improved at 8 weeks now.

so hard to give up those bad sugars. They are my last remaining unhealthy vice (candy, I’ve cream, cookies, etc.). It’s bad enough that they are empty calories that add u wanted weight, but they also make me feel like junk. And yes, even a little caffeine will majorly disrupt my sleep depending on what mode my mind/body are in. Sometimes I binge caffeine to the point it makes me extremely tired.

I’m hanging in there. Some of You will remember I got a job offer from a great company, big raise, big bonus, work from home. Well I’ve been waiting on my background check to go through for 6 weeks. And I’ve given up hope so I’ve started looking for other jobs which is heartbreaking. My current job is awful for several reasons, some my fault, some not. Either way I feel it needs to
come to an end. All of this uncertainty is causing a lot of stress.

My current psych who I really like referred me to another psych that has a little more experience treating depression and anxiety. So I met with her last week and she was great. She started me on a new med so we’ll see how that goes.

Been going to my meetings, taking my meds, and doing some other stuff good for my recovery. I have had a couple quick ideas to drink but they were short lived and I feel safe. I’m at day 235, almost 8 months. Longest I’ve ever been sober off of alcohol.

Congratulations on 8 Weeks advbike - that is fabulous to read!
I am starting to notice sugar and carbs have a negative effect on me also advbike . If I treat myself to a piece of cake, or ice cream or even eat processed food, I feel really irritable, narky and anxious. I could probably cut out 95% of sugar but carbs would be harder, coffee very, very hard. I am thinking about it though,
Sleep is also becoming an issue for me . I am by nature a night owl, but having to get up early for children is not conducive to this at all !

Good late morning

Tried skiing and poling with one arm, went down a steep ungroomed black run, and HAD to use my arm for balance. I cried. Bad idea. I left Dr Free and his two buddies and I’m in until I get a shower and Dr Free removes the pressure bandage and applies a new one.

So, I found dark chocolate covered almonds, and I discovered the ‘mall almonds’ I made and put away, and snacked on those yesterday. Like you all here, bad idea. Sure did taste good going down the gullet though. I’m giving myself some breathing room with all that, yesterday I was crabby and in a pissy mood, but I DID NOT DRINK.

Today much better.

BABM, yes, move on and no longer wait. If that job does come into your lap, you can always quit one for the better one, yes? Glad you are seeing a new Dr. I posted a response to your question about a new drug, so if you are starting that one, I’m glad you are seeing someone familiar with the intense monitoring that is needed. Ahhh sugar and carbs, that old chestnut 😳. It's extremely annoying that these things that aren't good for us are so tough to give up. Why can't vegetables be addictive. I must say I do find these sorts of bad foods as hard to kick as addictive substances. Wish I'd never started eating the stuff, I used to eat so clean and LOVED it. I'd have the occasional naughty treat but picked up some bad habits in my eating. It feels a bit like alcohol in that once you reach this 'point' in consumption it takes on a life of its own. Even to the point that healthy food is unappealing and my brain transmits this lie that it doesn't taste good. Although there are studies that back that certain foods are addictive and that food companies have cracked some formula that feeds into this. I too feel it's time to tackle this demon 😈 I certainly need to lose quite a bit of weight and as overweight as I am I can almost be assured I'm in some danger waters healthwise.

Dusty - that must have been quite a shock with the pic debacle 😱 Hope everything else is going as smoothly as possible.

Zura -I love home grown garlic! The season here is over, my very delicious elephant garlic was ready and pulled in July - I would post a picture......but maybe not....!
A random observation but I have noticed this week that my finger nails look very healthy, similarly my hair. It is nice to see my body recovering and balance being restored.....If only I could kick the coffee habit..

Dark chocolate is an essential health food too......
Far more important than those dreadful, chemically sprayed green genetically manipulated plants.
Some of the most healthy foods are conveniently made available in tinned form these days!

But my favourite is a Chinese chilli paste. This one is the go: Lao Gan Ma. I had a Chinese girlfriend for a while
who insisted that it translated as 'old dry woman'. The sour faced lady on the label took this from a road side stall serving Chinese truckers to a business legend. You can get it in mainstream supermarkets now in Australia. It's good. I like the one withe peanuts, cos then the nuts have been marinated in the chilli oil.

Breakfast can be a bowl of noodles, mixed up with the chilli oil and topped off with an almost done egg. Almost done means once you spread it through the hot noodles it finishes cooking.

Yeah, but not everyday....maybe just Sats. Its not healthy eating.

Living sober, its get up about 6.30, walk for an hour, only do coffee once a day, so make a hard strong pot. Winter, I eat oranges, summer pineapple. Chop it up with Woolies fruit free muesli and read online newspapers. I read a lot of newspapers.

Actually, guys....today has been a s**t day. I got turned down for the return of my pro licence. Technical reasons, been away too long, didn't retrain to the beauro standard. And of course all the required 'retraining' involved big course fees to the same ppl who a year or so ago set up the system.

Maybe its the world saying 'walk'.
Go do something else.
Go live in a condo in Bangkok and drink yourself to death out of utter airconned boredom. But can't travel either.
Or. Do the hard thing.....sit and get sober.
Maybe then I can think straighter about it all.

Hey all, busy day. Just had dinner and super tired.

BABM, don't stress on the job, something better will come soon. Remember, we are where we need to be. You are absolutely crushing the sober time, brother. Trust me, amazing things will come of it. I am glad they are working on the anxiety and depression and you have a psych doc you like.

Zura, Dusty and Free, we're all struggling with the sugary snacks. Dang, every day it's something.. just ate two small bowls of chocolate "light" granola (a little less heavy than most but still bad) and I put sweetened almond milk on it as I'm out of regular milk. Urgh.. I will probably wiggle and toss and turn again tonight from all this sugar. Thankfully the rest of my dinner was healthy and included pasta and stir fried kale with garlic. I'm glad your nails and hair are looking healthy, Dusty - that's a really good sign. My nails are bright pink, but my hair is almost totally gray now, trending toward white. Sigh.. life in the fast lane..

Pline, I'm sorry to hear about the license, but it's not the end of the world. As you say, you will do it if you want. You're smart, it's very obvious. I know if you stayed sober for 6 months your life would get better. Much better. So much happens in those first 6 months. But you have to find a way to deal with the feelings, and the constant call of the AV in the meantime. I admit I feel it too sometimes, but I just kick those thoughts to the curb and do not allow my AV a seat at the table. If I start to entertain the thought of a drink or bargain with it I am doomed. I can rationalize almost anything, lol. But it won't always be this way. I know that from my prior experience. Give me 6 months and it will be nothing. So in the meantime, it's lots of distraction, some tasty snacks and crap food, a lot of biking and hiking to dump the stress, and into bed early with a book or my iPad. Sleep much better after the first few weeks. Rinse and repeat. If I can do this, you can.

Free! 160 days is very close - it's a wonderful thing you are doing - there is a new life and it feels more real to me every day now.

I just ate a choc ice, it was delicious! During today I have had 4 cups of strong coffee and later I will be having 2 slices of toast with peanut butter and banana, BUT I have drunk no alcohol for 265 days.
Advbike, I am sorry you didn't get good sleep, don't let being tired distract you from your journey. I was going to say from your 'amazing journey', but I know sometimes this journey to sobriety just doesn't feel amazing, and can in fact feel the opposite, but whatever it feels - this journey is probably the most important one of our lives?
