https://www.soberrecovery.com/forums...art-three.html (Class of August 2021 Support Thread Part Three)
Welcome to the class of September. I joined this class in 2010, a few weeks after what turned out to be a last drink. Almost twelve years sober. And I post in this thread every year to let newcomers or returning members know that a sober life is possible.
How did I do it? I committed to quitting and never drinking again. I did whatever it took, made the necessary changes in my life, to support that decision. I not only learned how to cope without alcohol, I learn to live and love the sober life. I don't feel deprived, sobriety isn't a punishment. Being freed of the chains of addiction is a blessing.
This forum has been integral to my recovery. Welcome and good luck!

tomorrow will be a week. Attending the daily morning AA meeting online in a few minutes and then breakfast and exercise. Meeting with my therapist today and then probably going to read and journal. I've been sleeping(thanks to melatonin) but its been 2 hours here, 2 hours there, 2 hours, get up for 30 mins, 2 hours. But, when I sleep, its deep sleep so I'll take it. My gf comes into town on Friday afternoon. She's been an amazing support and literally been there through every single rehab.

Hello everyone, back for the second time today. Sorry cannot remember everyone's name, my memory wasn't the best before I started my 20 year drinking sprees, it's practically nonexistent now!
This morning spent at zoom meetings, talking to my sponsor and working on my step 4 and being on here.
This afternoon, much more fun. My grandsons were making all the flags of Europe (yes, all 46) and I was head colourer in. Strangely relaxing colouring in is.
This time last week I was in absolute despair. Things are slowly sorting themselves out. But I know I can easily catapult myself back there in an instant by taking just one drink.
Then who would be head colourer in?
