24 Hour Recovery Connections Part 531
It’ll be ok Efra …. Really … I understand. Diagnosed quite awhile ago with what I’d say are periods of sadness/ doctor says periods of Depression. It’s been that way for me for as long as I can remember.
Getting sober & getting on anti-depressants were 2 major life changes. I really do recognize when “it” is coming over me. Acknowledging my sadness, giving myself that talk, “Bobbi, it’s alright, talk it out, write it out or cuddle up in bed.” IDK why but just doing this has really helped me.
Kinda like walking through the emotion (not denying it) shortens that sad time quite a bit. I know I’ll feel better again soon. And I do.
I hope this makes sense …

Good morning everyone! Efra, hang in there. Depression sucks, almost as much as drinking sucks. The two of them together are a powerful duo. Also, I think one thing that is a common misconception for people early in their struggles with alcohol is that if they quit it's all sunshine and rainbows. It's not. Depression can still be there and the problems you had before drinking will still be there.
If there is one positive of getting older it's that I'm getting some of that knowledge that comes from experience. There is not a single person on this earth who is happy all the time. There are ALWAYS periods of feeling down. To compare it to something more micro...it's like feeling tired one day compared to normal or energized most days. You have to go to the root of the issue...why am I tired? Is it my bed, too much caffeine, stress? Once you can find the root issue you can do what needs done to get that sleep! Removing alcohol just helps us to focus and have a clear mind to find those root issues.
In for 24.
