Good morning. I took advantage of the cool morning to get a bit of a walk in. I'm hoping that movement will help the sciatica. It is better.

I hope I can visit my Dad today. Also do a bit of reading, fold laundry and eat something healthy.

I'm sure that you all are awed by my soaring ambition!!

Hi Overs -

Im enjoying a relaxing Sat. We take a ‘rest/play’ day once a week (Sat) and it’s made a big difference for me to have it to look forward to. Missed it last week with family in town so it’s extra lovely.

Toots - glad you are enjoying time with your mom.

Bekind - Sounds like a full day to me!

Hope everyone enjoys their weekend.

Good Morning Overs

SE, it’s always good for our well-being to have a rest/play day. I’m glad you were able to.

Bekind, absolutely in awe of your ambitious busy day.

We’re having a barbecue at mum-in-law’s later. It’s going to be another hot sunny day.

Have a good Sunday my friends. be safe. xxxx

6y ago I was wearing a fiberglass collar and cuff sling as my right shoulder was smashed up from a booze fall. The sling that caught fire and melted, whilst in blackout , burning me 6y and 1m later. They very nearly amputated it, so bad the damage- because the burns surgeons brought me back from death three times.
Today I did grocery shopping in my local, boring looking shopping center full of people , all of whom have a story. A specialist surgeon post burns asked me what expectations I had for my severely burnt arm. I said to be able to carry bags full of shopping. 2y ago a burns specialist performed 2 correctional hand procedures to make it more functionality and save finger amputation .
So carrying shopping I often think/feel how grateful I am. Surely -whether there is a god or no, a true miracle.

Phoenix may everything that is holy bless that surgeon as well as whatever it was that brought you to a point to choose sobriety and life. Your story gives me quite the shot of vicarious gratitude.

Peej, much was done by the surgeon, but without your tenacity endurance and inner strength I'm not sure he would have thought it worth considering. You have made your recovery both physically and addiction-wise your priority. Well done on six years Peej, you have brightened and changed a lot of lives during that time and the worked would have been a darker place had you not had the opportunity of rebirth after the fire.

Hi all,

My brother's family came back from their adventures. Great stories. I'm both so so happy they had this experience as well as relieved that they are home safe.

So far today: printed off a POA, tidied up a bit and put a heating pad on my healing (I hope) butt.

So off to pay some bills, do a bit of yoga and call my Eye Doc . . . isn't that a responsible adult-like To-Do list.

I am just relieved that you weren't eaten by a tarantula or one of the other exotic pets. ❤️

Yeah, me too Venuscat. I let the Tegu out last night to roam the bedroom. It is a bit like a small crocodile. I find it terrifying.

I'm hanging with my Dad in his room at the Memory Center. He wanted to know when and where we were going. I talked him into a nap. I find it kind of heart breaking when he wants me to take him out of his facility. He can no longer comprehend his limits nor my inability to move his 210 lbs.

Good morning Overs.
Bekind as someone who hates adulting I think you've got it licked.
I've done some watering and cleaned my glasses.

Have a good day everyone.

Bekind, helping aging parents can be heartbreaking. We are so accustomed to our parents being the adults and so it’s a role reversal. My mom had vascular dementia and became very childlike as a result. I don’t think it was nearly as difficult as what some families deal with but I still recall the challenges more than 20 years later. I have never regretted helping my mom through her last years in spite of everything. Your dad is lucky to have you

Have a terrific Tuesday, my friends

Back home after a few days visiting with my mum, I'm so glad that at almost 83 she is physically and mentally well enough to lead an independent life. I know we, as a family will cope if and when she deteriorates, but I also dread it. I have a few things to try to get done this week as hopefully a week today we head to Spain until October. Bekind are you still doing your Spanish? I'm afraid my lessons are a bit hit and miss, I don't do it daily, but when I go back to it I remember more and more.

Have a good one all.

Oh man, I want to come visit you in Spain Toots! In the last month or so I haven't done anything with Spainish. My last bit of work on it was really trying to get the difference between "por" and "para".

Today I plan to head to my sister's for a couple of days also to order new glasses.

Well, I'm off to find a large envelope, get dressed and pack up a bit.

May you all have a lovely Tuesday.

Hi Overs -

PJ - Thx for sharing your inspirational journey. Everyone does have their own story, thx for reminding me.

Bekind - While tough, it seems to me that you are still your dad’s person, and having ‘a person’ that one can share their thoughts with helps so much over keeping it bottled up. Hard on you. Sending hugs. (I say this as I’m trying to help BB nap even though he doesn’t want to and it’s hard to hear your child cry bc all he wants is to be picked up)

Hope everyone has a great week.
