Checking in at 3:30 pm on a cold and rainy day. I managed to finish my sewing project last night so today all I have to do is reading and making dinner. Tonight we'll have steak with home made hot sauce and oven veggies!
I just got off the phone with my dad, we discussed some camera stuff as my partner wants to get me a new camera for my birthday next week. I'm so excited! Since I entered my teens I never really celebrated my birthdays anymore. It always felt like not important enough of an event or selfish and I often told people to not get my anything when they were asking what I wanted because it seemed like a waste to me. It's sad to think about how much I was convinced to only be on this planet to serve and to not have any needs of my own. I'm happy that I have a healthier approach to those things these days, there are still reservations (I tried to talk him into getting a cheaper camera since it's "only me" he's getting it for and I don't want to waste his money) but the excitement is there! I know we all have to heal in different ways in recovery but for me this is a big step, allowing myself to enjoy something nice just for fun without obsessing about how many people would've been more deserving of the camera or how the money could've been used for more important things.
