how strange, nice strange it seems to be sober on christmas eve. i had 3 2012-2015 but apart from that the season was just an excuse to drink. from say 14 or 15 i woud be out with friends and always lots of drink at home, then in my 20s my siblings and i would all go back to the family home for xmas. drink every night. we used to go out for xmas dinner till 1 year my mother refused to do it anymore as we were all so hungover on xmas morning. how awful is that.
anyway time passes people marry have children drink less. apart from me. people die families change. now im here sober and will ring my mother in the morning clear headed and have a good chat. not been able to visit as cross border travel banned
anyway just thoughts of the ghosts of christmas past. not even doing santa this year which makes me quite sad. i used to put boot prints in icing sugar or flour on the hearth pretending they were santas snow boot prints. very silly. and a half bitten carrot that rudolf had dropped. saw these outside the window this morning though. sure they were checking the sleigh route for tonight

I think you are right....look at them marking out that spot for Santa...maybe this is where he lands in Scotland

Xmas Eve tradition here used to be doing the Xmas light rounds, then putting out a mix of oats + red and green glitter for the reindeer (so they could see it in the dark and we'll cause its Christmassy) and Santa's milk and choc chip cookies.

oh wow! that is gorgeous. you are so lucky to have snow. pretty and festive and magical
it never snows here. in 2018 i think or 2019 there was the beast from the east which hit the uk. satellite images showed the whole of the uk white over. except where i live and the surrounding 20 or so miles. didnt get a flake

Worst Xmas i've ever lived through. Still having random bouts of crying every day. I'm sober, but I feel entirely hopeless. I'm sitting in bed with my toddler watching cartoons. I shouldn't feel like this, but I do.

My mum grew up in Glasgow....Allison St....I found it on Google maps....
She used to save her tram/bus money and walk to school in the snow....quite a ways.
And it was so cold....yet now it doesn't snow there anymore. Amazing.
