24 Hour Recovery Connections part 510
Congratulations Suze and 1newcreation on your amazing milestones!
I had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas with my lovely granddaughters yesterday. Their mom and dad were well behaved and not a smidge of anxiety surfaced.
Facing day 20 today and I feel as if I've been sober forever, but, I won't let down my guard. I'm enjoying my life again...
I don't have anything planned for today, with the exception of setting up my planner for next week. I bought my first ever planner many years ago (like almost 50!) when I was in 6th grade and have had one ever since. I like to pick a word for the year and in the past I've had "love" , "peace", "hope"...but I wasn't sure what 2021 should be. Faith, kindness, or something else. Then, while watching "Polar Express" it was obvious what my word should be:
Believe. This word is perfect because it encompasses so many aspects of my life.
Praying for 24 hours @ 9:25AM EST.

Hello team! Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. Sorry I haven't checked in for a while ... I've been lost in a maze of lego, baby yoda toys, wrapping paper and mince pies. It's been wonderful. Congratulations milestoners and everyone committing to another day of glorious sobriety. And it is glorious. I've had this mental image for a while now.... It's a bit bonkers but what the heck, I'm going to share. So, do you know those machines that shoot out tennis balls when people are having tennis lessons? So, in my mental image, I'm facing one of those machines but it's not shooting out tennis balls .... It's shooting out stress and upset and misunderstandings and cruelty and disrespect and irritation and ... You get the picture. It's shooting out loads of the stuff life likes to whack towards each and every one of us. And I'm facing this onslaught and I'm whacking each and every thing away .... And I'm using a shield. Some of the hits make me stumble but I keep going and after each time I whack something away I shout 'I don't drink anymore'. And the harder the hits, the louder I yell. And in my mental image, sobriety is my shield. And as long as I've got my shield, I know I'm going to be ok. 24 more hours of never dropping my shield please xxx
24 more, please, and love to all.
Merry Christmas to all 24’ers! Hope everyone had a lovely day with loved ones. I had my 43rd birthday on Boxing Day so it’s been such a lovely time with my boys.
I’m feeling a bit wobbly on the alcohol side of things, but I’ll just try pushing through.
Sending lots of love
