Hi Billy and Be and Suze
I’m back from a lovely Easter camping trip.
I’m glad I didn’t drink, although everyone else did.
We had a really enjoyable time bushwalking, swimming and cooking on a campfire.
It was nice to get away from “civilisation” for a few days and just be outside in nature. Good to recharge

Well painting the tables is worth a check in for sure, Billy!

Hope everyone is well. I love the talk of bush camping, it's just such a recurring 'Neighbours' storyline that I can imagine it well 😁

Hope everyone is well, my foot is STILL not letting me run but we've had a nice Easter and my own DIY project (building a 'lean-to' shed) is coming along slowly but surely

Suze, most people I know drink a lot when they go camping, it’s really common....
But I definitely enjoyed myself not drinking!
This is the creek where we camped and went swimming

I completely agree Willow, English camping is definitely an excuse to drink heavily in fact any sort of holiday 😉
I even wondered whether I would even enjoy our canal boat holiday last year as it was my first ever sober one. Thankfully it was pretty similar just minus drink, better in fact.
Glad you had a lovely time Willow ❤
love Billy x

Good morning
just a little check in whilst still in bed. Hope everyone is okay. I have literally no plans for the day, I love that 😀
For the first time in ages one of my friends said to me yesterday, so is this definitely it for drinking?' It's funny as this is not a person who is a regular drinker so does not rely on me to be one. But I think it just goes to show how deeply entrenched drinking is in our culture and how giving it up entire always raises questions regardless of the reason 🤣
Anyway back on nights tomorrow so I definitely won't check in until after that.
love to everyone
Billy x

Oh she did say she was very impressed afterward. But I'm fairly sure that a lot of people have a hard time understanding why people quit forever

Billy my friend (who I used to drink with for many years), is really having trouble understanding why I would even want to stop drinking. She’s not supportive of the idea at all unfortunately. I’ve been mostly avoiding her lately which makes me sad, but I think it’s necessary if I’m going to be able to create a sober life for myself.

Yes I think that when people just don't get it it, it's usually that they can take it or leave it, so they don't understand or they have some issues of their own perhaps?
I have a music festival coming up in August so I am expecting some 'well just have one' interactions, even after over a year! We will see though
How are you doing Willow?
love Billy x

I’m ok now, thanks Billy, although I’ve had so many stumbles I’ve lost count!

Yes my friend definitely has issues of her own. She drinks a lot, every day. She has no desire to stop, and misses he drinking buddy. I don’t see much of her anymore because it’s difficult to remain sober around her.

I’m actually going to a music festival next weekend. I’m sure the AV will have plenty to say about it too. I’ll have to work hard to keep it at bay. I could do without it right now actually, but we bought the tickets last year, and a group of have booked accommodation already. I’ll just have to check i to SR plenty I think.

I think you’ll do amazingly well staying sober Billy x

I watched a really good documentary on alcohol last night called 'a royal hangover' about British drinking culture
in the opening scenes this woman says

"I have never had enough alcohol, I literally have never had enough and Thank God, because if I had I think I'd be dead"

That completely summed up my own attitude to alcohol and I think for the most part is the key to my sobriety ongoing as I know just one or finite will never ever be the end of it

Hope the festival goes well, you'll be so pleased with yourself for enjoying it sober
love Billy x
