“Most of our obstacles would melt away if, instead of cowering before them, we should make up our minds to walk boldly through them.” - Orison Swett Marden

5:25am in Alberta, I'll have 24 more please, and thanks...

Today is going to be a darn good day not to drink!

Oh, that is so true.....!!!!

I am very sore and grumpy today.....
My landlady made me do my whole back patio (weed, tidy, pickup, trim tons of ivy) on a very bad ankle.
She had every right....it was a terrible mess and it is no good for the bricks or wood fence and she is showing the other half of the house.
She didn't 'make' me do it....just told me she was coming over to clean up as it was out of control.
So obviously pride came before my ankle.
Plus I should have been keeping up instead of complaining about the heat.

And today she will come back to use round-up which I object to and am allergic to.

This whole situation has been a huge obstacle for me. I am finally moving through it. It isn't quite melting away, but I am getting there.

(Sorry if this sounds dumb, this has been a huge issue for me for three years with her being so pushy and intrusive).

8:00 in Louisville.
Checking in for 24 more sober hours.
I have tried moderating, but it just does not work for me. I have poured all the booze out that’s in the house.
God, please grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I cannot, and the wisdom to know the difference.
I am keeping a tab open here at SR.
I am making the coffee now.

Hey Suze, hope the ankle feels better later today, ice it and elevate it today while you look at your nice clean backyard! And one thing about Round-Up, it loses most of it's toxicity when it hits the ground, but does stay active on vegetation for 72 hours, at least that's what the farm boss told me and he uses a number of chemicals and has his certificate for chemical application. Maybe tell your landlord about Par3, the chemical that most golf courses use.

Our second oldest daughter has been bugging her dear old dad to make a trip out to Vancouver to redo her shower. It's been leaking for some time and she just keeps caulking it, but now it's past the point of just caulking. So early tomorrow morning Adam (son) and I will be making the 15 hour drive out there to rip out the old and back in with the new. We'll be out there for most of next week to get the demolition done, replace anything rotten, then start re-tiling. Covid concerns are in the back of my mind, but will do what is necessary to stay safe and make the daughter happy lol.

That is lovely of you guys to go do the shower.
Road Trip!!! Super extra exciting in these times. s

And THANK YOU dear Bruce ~ I was going to ask how long it is toxic.
So 72 hours on vegetation? If she hurts my plants I will murder her.
So if I water right after she does it.....or later today, will that help at all?

We need a Dear Plant Doctor thread.....

EDIT...I read up. None of my flowers are low except a couple of pots which I will move....so they should be ok.

I will do that VenusCat. I have to just stay focused on today. I am not going to drink any more, but more importantly, I am not going to drink today.

If you spray your plants down within 15-30 minutes after she uses the Round-Up, your plants will be fine!

I use a lot of Round-Up and Par3 out at the farm, Round-Up for the lane, gravel areas, places where I don't want any vegetation, then switch to Par3 for the grass areas. The chemicals you buy in the stores is much less potent than what the farmer's use, but it's still wise to follow all safety recommendations.

Got it.....it's a brick patio and the weeds are the nightmare from Elm St kind. I did most of them yesterday, but they will just come back in 5 mins and I am kind of over it. So all good. As long as I remember to close the window. LOL. s xx

I’m on board with the Dear plant doctor thread!!! I desperately need to weed again but EVERY time I do, no matter if I don’t touch it, I always get poison ivy blisters. I swear it must be another plant too. My dad sprayed some killer on it when they were here in June but it has reared its naughty head again.

today I’m finishing moving my apartment over to the house. Everything except the furniture which I’ll get moved next weekend. The girls both cried last night on face time saying how much they miss us. I told them I’m redoing each of their rooms and to not cry. Mommy needs this time to get their new desks and beds set up. It was still very hard.

24 more please. Thinking of everyone struggling today.

Awwww Trees. ❤️ Squooge. Are the girls with one of your mums?
And I bet their rooms will be lovely. s

I saw a thing about Poison Ivy on the news yesterday....and one good tip....it hides, so wear gloves so it doesn't get you before you see it. And I will take my own advice because I hurt my hands yesterday. xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

And Kenton, holy moly you are one amazing mother!!! I think I would have been more angry than calm. Something I need to absolutely work on. But I will remember this when my girls are growing up.
