Evening all. Just watching my son at 'Young voices' and he made the screen three times! Better still he's reprising all the songs and dances live in our kitchen. Happy days!

Night

That sounds like fun Be! A kitchen concert

Bil that’s really great you have plenty of energy. I’m sure your dogs are very happy about it too

Billy it sounds like your dogs are enjoying you getting up early too!
In my experience, dogs love getting up early

Tink how’re you doing today?

I’m feeling a bit sluggish, but I’m only back at the start of day 7 sober after my last mishap. But I’m feeling good that by tonight I’ll have a week under my belt again, and I know my energy level will improve over time

I’m going for a beach walk today.
I’ve posted this pic elsewhere but will share it here too. It’s the beach near where I live, and I took this when I was walking. No difficulty socially isolating

Wow what a beautiful beach. I lived in south Florida for 7 years and do miss being so close to the ocean. Plus the water temperatures there were pretty nice. I do prefer a heated pool to actually swim in though. Congrats on a week Willow, I think this time is THE time now.

That is a beautiful picture willow. I love the beach and the sea, there is something hypnotic about tides and waves.

Awake early, going to go for a two mile run with my lad today...not far but each one is quite exciting to see if my calf muscle pings or not

Have a great day people, YOLO

Morning everyone

That beach looks beautiful willow and congratulations on a week.
Pleased your energy is good bilr, i finally feel like mine is returning too.
One improvement I'm noticing now is my skin, i had still suffered from breakouts but it finally looks so much better, clearer and fresher.
well not much to report, got myself upset again on monday night, usual riubbish, then gave myself a talking to yesterday as in cant keep on feeling sorry for myself so trying to be more positive and grateful for everything i have and trusting the 'universe' has good things in store.

Hope everyone is well and has a good day.

Hi Fallow - you'll always be welcome here. I just looked and the April group seems to be very quiet. I first joined a group in July 2018 and posted on my own for about a month!!!! Sounds weird but it was great to journal...but I prefer our own little group here. Just the right size imho

Night all/morning willow.

I had a really challenging therapy session this morning. He's a good guy, I like his direct style. Well - I don't always LIKE it but I appreciate his professional honesty.

Its just one thing after another. I am so determined to move forward but it's such a long journey. One step forward, 3/4 of a step back.

Got to keep moving the forward. See you tomorrow

Goodnight Be, therapy can be really challenging, ups and downs, but worth it in the long run. I hope you sleep well.

Good morning everyone, even if it’s nighttime
7.15am here. Starting my second week sober today.
Just having coffee and scrolling through SR.
Have a good day/night everyone

So we have friends from the east coast coming to spend the weekend tomorrow. It will be nice to interact with other people for a change. They haven’t been to Texas before so it should be fun for them. No plans on drinking but just hanging out. I mean they and my wife might have a couple of drinks but I’ll stick to seltzer.

Hey Be! Bilr, Tink and Willow hope you are all okay
Still off work until next week (annual leave!) so I think more painting today, we are trying to get the bedroom finished. We started before Christmas but I think a combined lack of motivation and constant hungover me did not really bode well for successful home deco!
It's a nice feeling to be 'getting stuff done' I think it's known as adulting haha
Aside from that, out with the dogs, a bit of meditation etc, how about everyone else?
Love Billy x

Have fun Bilr, I must say we've not done any socialising with friends yet when alcohol was on the menu, I have been wondering if I will miss it when in the company of others, we'll just have to wait and see

Nothing much exciting happening here, just home schooling, housework and a walk. Im due to start therapy tomorrow I been on waiting list but not sure they had decided how to do it with lockdown so its going to be a telephone appt. Hope it helps just scared it opens up alot of hurt.

Be nice to have visitors bilr and to enjoy company without a hangover, have fun.

Hope you get your painting finished Billy its amazing how much more motivated we are without alcohol.

Hope therapy is useful for you Tink (I feel embarrassed talking about 'my therapist' and so GD AMERICAN! ). Mine is painful and shocking - so many layers to the onion - but I am committed to it as I am desperate to protect myself from going back

Good luck with therapy Tink, looking forward to hearing how it went, I know what you mean about therapy opening up a whole load of hurt I think I had a couple of sessions many years ago and didn't like the can of worms they were opening so quit. Might have been on SR a lot sooner if I had stuck with it perhaps, who knows? Great your embracing it

Do you find it is starting to make a difference or are you still working through the layers?
(I appreciate obviously that therapy is not an overnight fix!)

Hi Billy, hope you're enjoying your time off still.

Yes, it's helping greatly, alongside with being sober and using this site like I do. Some of the patterns in my behaviour are extremely deeply constructed (i guess it's the same with all of us!) and it is hard work at times. I'm at a point now if not knowing what the end game is...obviously I want to be happy, and am working towards that, but at what point do I say: 'Well, this is just the way I am, best thing I can do is be happy with it'? Even if there are some frustrating and pretty negative traits in there?

I guess it depends on whether you're looking for an end point in terms of therapy. I always feel that to some point we are always working toward full potential (whether or not we get there is a different matter entirely) and therapy might be part of that long term
Perhaps it is more a case of reframing how you look at aspects of yourself, i. e if you view it as negative, asking what does this teach you, what has it already taught me etc, is it truly negative - I often like to rename negative or weakness as 'areas for development'
From all of your posts throughout this thread it sounds as though you have learnt and continue to learn consistently about yourself to massive credit
Love Billy x
