Class of January Support Thread 2018 Part 10
I’m glad you’re feeling a little better Scotty. I hope the case numbers continue on a downward trend and that you’ll be out of lockdown again soon
The unrelenting pressure of life at the moment can really get to even the strongest of us, so I’m really glad you’ve reconnected with support here.
To save my eyes and fingers I use a speech to text program sometimes too - the results can be interesting LOL
All the best to you, your Dad and your son

@PS, I know what you were saying and totally understand. I have seen a therapist in the past, but I have to be honest I have never found one that was the right fit for me. I do, however have friends who ARE therapists, who are very good at asking questions that promote a lot of reflection on my part. I think in my case I am coping until I am not (I suppose that is true of everyone), I don’t feel a slow build as much as I am not always aware of the pressure until things conspire and then it can be overwhelming.
I do wish you could have seen the sight that greeted me when I got home today. In lockdown people seem to go nuts for buying toilet paper and flour so those aisles were empty. I went to a Costco type store and got a 10kg bag of flour, then my son and I were out for a couple of hours getting our second shot of vaccine. I opened the door and it looked like it had been snowing inside. My black and tan German Shepherd was white from head to toe, lying exhausted on the (now white) sofa with the empty flour sack and a ‘What?? I killed it for you’ look on her face - like I said sometimes things conspire lol.

Hi all, me again! I hope everyone is doing well out there. I'm OK, aside from feeling a bit stressed by my transition back to the office. I'm sure I'll adjust as I always do - only 6.5 years until retirement! Haha.
Hey girl - it's great to see you in here too! And I just realized that it's actually closer to 5.5 years until retirement. I was always shocked by people who were counting down their time, it seemed so dumpy and sad, LOL. Now that I've jumped from the frying pan into the fire of bureaucratic politics, I totally get it!!!

Popping in
Hi anyone still checking this thread,
I haven’t been around SR for ages. We had an extended lockdown here in Auckland and I spent so much time online working from home I just stayed off it at all other times.
I had to pop in on my 4 year soberversary to the place that has always given me so much support and encouragement. 2021 was a tough one, Omicron is not yet in NZ, but we all know it is only a matter of time before it is so I am choosing not to expect anything from 2022.
I hope you guys are doing well. Congrats to the Jan 2018 people who have made it to their 4 year anniversary and to those from here who have restarted their clock congrats for the restart - you got this.

Hi Scotty
Congrats on 4 years - thats awesome :
I'm hoping that you guys in NZ can learn from the mistakes made elsewhere with Omicron and come out with a better strategy and outcome

Hi Scotty - I'm still here! Huge congrats on 4 years. I like your zen approach to not expect anything from 2022. I think I need to adopt the same mindset! It seems so crazy that 4 years ago, there were SO many people in our class (which I guess is probably status quo for January/New Year's resolutions) and now it's down to just a couple of us. I'm so grateful that we were able to change our lives for the better with the help of our class.
