Day 267

Haha weird that its just me here but its kinda fun too! Thanks for popping in sometimes.

Another good day but I feel melancholy at its end.

A good friend. A good girlfriend. Good food. Spent too much money this weekend but what can you do? Life isn't that long and you gotta live it.

Love.

Day 268

Had a panic attack today. Getting over it as the evening passes. I'm not looking forward to the holidays this year because I don't really want to face people when I'm in the situation I'm in.

But lets see if I can be positive today. What am I grateful for:

1) I have a home
2) I have food to eat
3) I'm not sick

Love

keeping grateful and positive is a good thing I think Kinzoku

I've gotten to the point in life where what others think of me is irrelevant, so long as I know I'm doing my best.

Day 269

So i've been really fed up with myself and my lack of productivity so ive decided each night to make a simple list of the things I want done, very acheivable things, and doing them before I take a break.

Funnily enough I used to do that when I was drinking, it made me quite productive at times because I was so desperate to drink I'd hammer out the items on the list and then I could get wasted.

I'm not advocating that. Obviously the issue is that the reward of drinking spills over into other aspects of life and eventually instead of motivating me or relaxing me it becomes a baseline necessity and a crutch.

Hmm ranting.

Im greatful for:

1) A job
2) Trailer Park Boys
3) Seeing my family
4) My friends
5) Girlfriend
6) Food
7) My new list idea
8) Job interviews

Love.

Nothing wrong with making lists - I still do it, although the satisfaction of finishing is usually the reward these days

Day 270

Halfway done the list, SR is of course on the list! I'm so grateful to be sober. I thought that yesterday as I went for a walk. Sometimes I do want to drink, for relief. But I know that the clarity I get in true deep moments of being alive is far greater. It isn't easy. It may never be.

Sleepy as heck. Working on my list. I really miss some of my friends that have been distant lately and I don't know how to process it. Makes me sad. I guess thats life i just didn't think it would happen to me.

Gettgn sober was a time of chnge for me too - people I thought wee friends betong the glue of drinking turned out to be less than that.

It all worked out tho - I've made many new friends since, and reconnected with old ones

A really nice two days. Struck with anxiety tonight for no good reason.

But I'm alive, sober, well fed, and have good people in my life.

Hi kinzoku!
I was in this group for a while but wasn't sure it was still open.
One of my daughters got married a couple of months ago, so that kept me REALLY busy but I'm going to try to post here more often.
Glad to see you here and really like your grateful lists. Think I'll do the same.
1. SO happy the wedding is over and it was PERFECT!
2. I didn't drink at wedding
3. I'm not going to let Christmas stress me out. (I guess that's more of a "wish list" item, but I like to see it written down.)
4. I have a new dog and training is going AMAZINGLY well.
5. Christmas cookies are in the house and only I know where they are.
6. Life is drama free!
7. I'm sober and haven't been tempted, even during holidays.

Day 281

Zevin! Great to hear that you are here and sober and joining me in our class again Congrats on your daughters wedding!

My list for today

1) Met my two amazing friends
2) Spend time with my amazing girl
3) Relaxed for the first time in months, frankly maybe all year.

You know... you try to make things perfect but you can only find what you are looking for when you stop trying. That doesn't mean ceasing effort, it means ceasing seeking.

Love.
