Went to 2 AA meetings this week. First time during my sobriety. Wasn't what I thought at all. Not bad, might keep going. It was nice to talk with others who understand.
24 months coming full send right around the corner guys!!

JimmyJ - did it seem strange to anyone that your first AA meeting was after two years sobriety? Or is it not unusual for people to seek AA after being sober for a while?

Also 2 years for me today!

Cool beans, JJL.

In the beginning, I really resented having to attend mandatory AA meetings during my year of out-patient alcohol program.
But I actually made friends at three of the places I used to regularly attend.

I, too, like sitting and listening to other alcohol addicts. I find it therapeutic...nobody knows the troubles of a drunkard better than a room full of drunkards. Although I no longer attend often, I do enjoy ambling into a meeting once in awhile.
Good job.

Not strange at all, but my buddy who's been sober for many years took me. So as a guest it was easy. No one was there clicking a counter asking me how many days alcohol free I had LOL. I thought that might happen

Contrarily it was pretty cool. The group was folks who've been sober for a good amount of time and mostly consisted of sharing some stories that I could easily relate to. I liked most of it. Parts were strange, but I guess there are things that work for some and don't for others. I'll probably go more. Congrats btw!!!!!!

Merry Christmas, you guys!

Happy Holidays to all of you. Hope everyone is doing well.
So, I celebrated my THIRD sober Thanksgiving with some of my kids and grandkids this year, and will be enjoying Christmas with other kids and grandkids in a few weeks.
I was thinking: Wow. It seems like only a short time ago I was in outpatient, but in reality I'm headed into year 3 AF. Life sure passes at great speed...enjoy it sober!

Hi all,

Yes thanks Jimmy, still plodding along my sober road.

Always on SR, usually in the Weekenders.
