I never went down the AA route Wisc, I was too ashamed to begin with to want to admit face to face that I was an alcoholic. After a while of being here, and with my hubby's loving support and counselling, I just found my own solid recovery path. I guess we find the way that suits us best, recovery is fundamental, it is about changing ourselves, confronting ourselves. It's bloody tough. Admitting to my hubby I was an alcoholic brought me my deepest shame. Recovery, and living a sober life, is my proudest achievement.
I wish I could make someone actively drinking see how good life is without booze, but I guess you need to find your own way - I doubt I could have been told before I reached my personal nadir.

Starting off well. To bed early slept late.
Sad news my BIL died. He was battling the C.diff infection for several weeks.
He was 74. Just became a grandpa too a few months ago.
So glad to be present for my sister. Throughout my drunken craziness she was there. Her two grown sons are there to help her. As also her SIL.

Opening day for baseball...NOT! Safer At Home rules in place.
Spring has sprung. Much warmer temps overnight...and angleworms across the sidewalks.

Already have spent an hour on SR. Which is good. Just to go F2F meetings would take up a couple hours with the meeting, after-meeting, getting there.

I'm sure I have more to say but enough for now....

I was open to attending AA and went to a few meetings, but now they aren't meeting around here, or if they did I would be afraid to go because of the virus. I like the online meetings that are happening, and now I have to opportunity to try some others, like Smart and there's even a Refuge Recovery I could attend. I've been procrastinating on that. A big part of me wanting to go to AA was to build a sober support group, and online is not the same to me. It's what we have now, though, so I'm all for making the most of it and will try.
I came down with what I think is bronchitis. It's been a problem for me in the past. Naturally I'm scared, for obvious reasons. I had to get a covid-19 test. That was an adventure in itself. I came home with lots of meds and have looked carefully at them and non of them are addictive, so I'm glad of that.
So, maybe I'll wait a bit before I join your group, wisc. I may have a little trouble being completely positive right now. I love that you are doing it, though. Attitude really makes a huge difference and I am trying.
My company has a call-in counseling program, it's free and I am going to try to do that today.
Until I'm sure I'm not carrying the virus, I will have to stay away from the rest of the family, so the optimist in me says this is a great opportunity to meditate and join some online groups and continue my search for online work. But for now, it's nap time.

Oh sober there's no joining or anyone's group. It is just a fun thing we say to each other now and then. You post what or whenever you want...really it's a safe place for everyone, and everyone who has a year and under of recovery. Don't go!

Sorry, I didn't mean I was leaving! I just thought that it was a group on SR for only positive things. Not a bad idea at all, in fact I really like the Gratitude group, though I don't post there much I like to read it.
Thanks for caring Wisc, I just left a post on the nicotine addiction group. I am suddenly so motivated to quit smoking!

Sorry to hear about your BIL Wisc it’s great that you can support your sister ❤️
Sober369 you don’t have to always be positive, I often post when I’m feeling totally awful. Everyone is so supportive

Thank you everyone. I will see how she is doing today. Her sons will be with her and her SIL. They live in South Carolina.

My belly button birthday....the big 59.

Of course staying close to home....time to do other things than read news and play games.

Thanks sober read too much into your posts.

Thank you...all of you...your welfare means a lot to me. Gregory

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. Feels good to hear it from recovering members.

A bit slow on the thread here.

Been listening to 12x12 and AA Big Book audio books while laying down. Maybe some recovery by osmosis?

Feeling well no flu, cold, covid, symptoms...also alergenics are getting high.

Need to decide to order online for delivery or get a ride to The Pig later Monday. It's starting to seem slots for pick-up aren't available.

Stay safe sober sane serene
