My co-worker had a better day yesterday. His brain is still a bit foggy, but hopefully that will clear soon.

Have a Thunderous Thursday, overs!

Good morning Overs

FBL I’m pleased you work colleague is improving.

I’ve just had fruit and yoghurt for breakfast. I don’t know what’s a matter just lately, I seem to want to eat constantly. Could be the cold weather.

Have a Good Friday my friends. xxxx

Star,
Me too.

Wolf good to see ya.

FBL, you just keep on ahead of me by a year and a few months. I never want to swap places. It isn't who has the most years sober, but having the most fun sober, and we're both ahead of that game too!

Didn't the Scots invent golf Toots! It's almost a citizenship duty to play if you're Scot by blood, no?

Mags,
You're sounding much better, hope you're feeling as much better as your posts sound.

Dee,
I don't like what I'm reading about your fires and deniers. I hope you continue out of immediate danger.

Andy,
How are you doing?

Ok guys, I'm behind on Overs from getting ahead here. We finished receiving and installing a new kitchen set of top line Whirlpool French door refrigerator, and Whirlpool three rack stainless dishwasher. As well a matching Whirlpool gas five burner range with convection oven, and their big over range convection/microwave. They delivered two previous ranges that were badly crushed from being warehoused. Third time was a charm. We got our security cameras up, and the last interior painting and all the stair and upstairs bedrooms done in new pads and carpet. I've started on gun storage and organization and finding a good concealed carry class for both of us. We're also selling or donating the last of our old furniture as we replace with new contemporary furniture. We've had my son and the grandkids over almost every Saturday or Sunday too! Next it's tools and workbench and outside mini workshop and storage bldg. I got quotes but not one could do the whole project so I'll consider having a workman build it. Meanwhile we're redoing the stringers on the stairs that were carpeted and covered up the sloppy wood work under it. No prob just time and some monies.
Have a great week end!

Itch, I couldn't agree more!

I have what I'm hoping is my final eye exam by the retina specialist later this morning. I will probably be there for awhile as he wants to examine both peepers. He'll be dilating both eyes, so hopefully I can see well enough to do a little work this afternoon.

Looks like we're bracing for 8-12 inches of snow over the weekend. It is overdue this season.

Have a Fantastic Friday, overs!

Itchy, your energy seems boundless! Seriously, though, you sound much happier since the big move.

FBL, happy to hear your co-worker is improving.

Have a happy POETS Day, Overs!

YW Dee, and thanks, we are doing this one without scrimping other than my doing the work to find the best price for what we can't do ourselves. See at 67, despite excellent health and only ortho issues that are compensated for well enough, (they don't have a pill for ugly yet) We can expect to get to 85-90 at best, given our lifelong exposure to jet exhaust and exposure and handling lead and other toxins. So this is our last or next to last home if we need assisted living. So money is for a comfortable home we can be proud to have our friends and family over. 18 – 23 at most years will seem to fly by. We intend to have fun and enjoy being Seenagers. We'll still leave plenty to our son. Who knows, we may go sooner or not be able to do what we can do now. Carpe Diem applies, no refunds or returns, so we fun must have.

FBL,
We're getting some too maybe – 10% chance. We just had a flurry in the sunshine! Not even sticking but beautiful! Hey, you need a driver with both eyes dilated! Be careful bud.

Sassy,
You've got that right! You have no idea how happy! Just to go anywhere I get a breathtaking view anywhere I look, the people are wonderful, the wildlife abundant, and don't forget Einstein's equation E = mc 2 - Energy = motivation times capacity for beauty squared. My energy source, relatively speaking!

I heard one of the simplest statements this morning, and probably have heard it before but never let it sink in as much as I did today;

"when you quit drinking you need to stop thinking of it as a sad sacrifice, but rather a positive opportunity"

This is me over the past few months. Even when I hit my year milestone I was still thinking of it as as sacrifice that made me miss it, and I haven't been embracing this as an opportunity like I should. Life is good.

I believe I should branch out to meet and socialize with more folks who don't drink. Maybe this means going to AA, or something of the like. Not sure, but I need to branch out and grab my new life.

Thank you all. I love reading your posts here and being able to contribute when I can.

Morning Overs

Jimmy, I had some ‘woe is me’ moments when I stopped drinking. I partly felt I was sacrificing myself, for life, and it wasn’t fair!
Reading around SR I began to see things differently. In the end, it’s how we feel about a thing that makes it real for us.
I had chosen to stop drinking. I wasn’t told by my doctor or work (though my husband and a close friend had suggested it in the past, much to my disdain).
So, ultimately the decision to stop drinking was mine. My only problem, from some trial and error experiences in the past, was how the heck do I stay sober? Will I ever be happy again?
Sober Recovery gave me all the answers, how to keep sober and finally enjoy being sober. It gets so much better with time.

Itchy, I’m ok thanks, just the usual but I’m still smiling.

Have a great weekend my friends xxxx

Well, the eye saga continues. The right eye is healing nicely, but he still wants to do another exam in eight weeks. The left eye has some minor lattice degeneration, but I have no acute symptoms at this time. He said that he could do a preventative laser treatment and asked if that was "something that I would want?" He caught me off guard and I said "yes" to it without asking any questions, and I made the appointment for the end of the month. However, I'm now having second and third thoughts and I just don't feel right about doing it without more information. So, I'm going to listen to my gut, cancel that appointment and talk to him about it further when I go in for my exam in eight weeks.

So far, just a cold rain here this morning. Winter storm is supposed to come later today and tonight. They are now saying 6-10 inches of snow for us, so we'll see.

Have a great weekend, overs!

Good morning Overs.

I'm feeling 'thin', like butter spread over too much toast. Everyone wanted their share over Christmas but I didn't accept all of the invitations but some played the guilt card. Sleep is all over the place again.

Keep smiling.

I love your boundless positivity Itchy!

Jimmy, the first year or two definitely had its "woe is me" thoughts running through my brain. It's wonderful when you realize all that sobriety brings into your life. I no longer think that I have sacrificed things by not drinking.

I think that is a prudent idea FBL postponing surgery until you have further info!

Have a good day all!

Good idea to hold off on the appointment if that's what your gut says, FBL.

Love your outlook, Itchy ~ it should be about having fun!

JimmyJ that's a good quote.....it's cool how we can look from a different perspective, or as we call it in the March '16 class: "Mindful crap"

Checking in for a weekend to rest and recharge
