One Year & Over Part 72
Hello all
I have been sober since 1st January 2019 - hope it's ok if I join.
I saw a friend I haven't seen for a while last night and she said something in passing about getting together for some wine, so I filled her in that I've been sober for almost 14 months lol. She was lovely about it, she totally took it in her stride and congratulated me. I notice that only people who are concerned about their own drinking question or say judgemental things.
My main struggle these days is food! I try and I try but I can never seem to get into a good pattern and I eat for comfort a lot. Have any of you experienced this after getting sober?
Hope you all have a great day

Yes.....and I am very unhappy about it.
I was really slim for the first 3 years odd, but then I moved here (scary and an eating trigger), and then menopause decided to come play, and everything went wrong.
Eating what I used to eat (in Australia) isn't enough for me here for some reason....winter maybe? I do not know. I am desperately trying to get back to my yogurt and away from the sourdough bread.
I need to lose this weight....at least it will be warmer next week (and not me Sass honey, the Weather Channel....just hope they are right ), so I can start walking again. Surely that will help.
Welcome Sophie!
I also have eating challenges and am currently in an insurance-sponsored program to get overall healthier.
Yay! I have my wheels at last. My car looks brand new :-)
Have a happy Hump Day!

Morning Overs
Sassy, great news that you’ve got your car back.
FBL, good news on the book completion!
Andy, toots and all U.K. ‘ers, hope you’re safe from any floods. The river Trent is high and many of the farmers fields round here are water logged . I wonder if it will affect crops this year.
Have a good Thursday my friends xxxx

Hi Sophie and welcome, and belated congratulations on your first Soberversary!
There are so many sugars in alcohol, that when we stop drinking we need to fill the craving somehow. I find that eating a balanced diet with no snacking is the answer, along with plenty of fresh air and exercise. Now if only I could take my own advice!
Woohoo, Sass is mobile again!
Well done on completing your book FBL, I know it was a project dear to your heart so much more your 'baby' than the usual annual you put out.
Mags, I I had flood problems, the whole of Dundee would be underwater, for some reason we always live atop hills!
The bridge you see in the distance is the Tay rail bridge, scene of an horrific accident: https://youtu.be/YHT_Gz2fJuM
You can still see the concrete bases of the original pilings. I am proud to say Mr T as a sweet young schoolboy won a poetry prize and had his poem written up in the local paper, writing about the disaster. ( of course winning a poetry prize did not do his street cred much good!)
We had another truly awful poet from Dundee, William Topaz McGonagall, who also wrote an epic about the Rail Bridge disaster. Google him!
