Andy, happy you are getting sleep again!

Mags, maybe after waiting for that test, your brain is saying “Enough already, I want a break!”

PJ, what’s up with you?

Hi all!

Woke up to more snow this morning. Looks like another 4-6 inches for us today. I guess winter really has come early this year!

Have a Happy Hump-Day, overs!

My thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time SE.

Mags, I have an older home (for this country) and do not have a central air conditioning system. I have three small air conditioners that I place in various living room and bed room windows. They stay mounted in the window for five months or so. I take them out of the windows when the temperatures cool down, as the windows are very drafty and poorly insulated with the units mounted in them. My house has no room in the walls for any duct work to be added.

Have a good day all!

Star, I see, I was imagining you took them out of the window (glass) and then had to fill that back in with something. My mind works simply sometimes. . My sister has portable ones and they’re great, much better than my electric fan.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I am in good cheer that I am going to be able to make the trip, and being able to use my hands again to carry things. It makes life a lot easier!

hugs to everyone!

I still have a pulse. Yesterday saw me struck by the terrible feeling of something bad WILL happen soon default feeling I existed with my whole life. BUT HALTS to the rescue. A beach walk(although not feeling the love), lots of haitch, two- oh, good food and rest have put that crud back into hibernation. My fried bod has a tenuous balance and it demands constant attention.
All good. Much better now than I ever have been.
Thursday here- windy and cool, time to launch into art with rules homework- to copy and apply pastels to an old master. Vermeer- Girl with a red hat.

Morning Overs

PJ, I’m pleased the dark cloud moved away when you went to the beach. A walk on the beach can solve many a problem. I looked at the picture you are going to copy. It’s got more detail the more you look at it.
Enjoy your painting.

SE, I’m pleased you can use your hands to carry again, makes it so much easier.

Off to hospital appointment later this morning for the asthma, just for a change Fortunately hubby is driving me today.

Have a good Thursday my friends xx

Good morning Overs.

I spent last evening in AE (emergency room) with DD17, she with the help of her sister dislocated her shoulder. She cheered the staff up when they got her on the gas and air, she giggles at the best of times, who knew numb lips could be so funny.

Have a good safe day everyone.

Andy, sorry DD17 had a dislocated shoulder! Hope she is felling better.

Mags, sending *hugs*.

PJ, good to hear your beach walk helped a bit. I know I can’t fully understand what you go through but occasionally have a small inkling.

I’ve spent the past week battling with my primary care doc over one of my meds - very frustrating and unpleasant. I have been taking it for over 60 years and it was fully re-evaluated and explained by an excellent endocrinologist awhile back. The chances of it having changed are almost 0 but this doc decided she knows better and wants to change it in a way that would very likely be a disaster. She won’t listen. So I am changing primary docs *sigh*.

Have a good day to all!

Saskia, I hate it when doctor's assume they know better and don't allow any input from their patients. Sounds like it is indeed time to move on.

PJ, glad the beach walk made your mood improve.

Good luck Mags!

Andy, I hope DD17 is better soon.

Have a good day all!

Morning overs -

PJ - thx for checking in to let us know how you are doing. Your new assignment sounds like a fantastic opportunity to understand a great master through your own eyes.

Andy - Hope DD17 lends quickly

Baby and I are having our last nurse and it is sinking in that I will be away from her cuddles for a bit. I fly out later this morning. Grateful to have a family that I want to spend time with.

Good morning Overs.

DD17 and I are off to the fracture clinic this morning. This is the third time it has dislocated, she is so familiar with the process she has already stopped wearing the sling.

In other news, yesterday I put up a light fence to stop tall annual plants from flopping on to a path.

Have a good day everyone.

Morning Overs

Andy, I hope DD17’s shoulder soon heals. She sounds a very sound and happy person. How’s the rain at yours, it’s non stop here. A few roads with water stood but not flooded, hopefully the new flood defences for the Trent will hold.

Hope you’re ok toots, with our weather and not having any major problems.

After a night’s sleep I can see a positive from my hospital appointment yesterday. I qualify for the asthma injections although I still have to have the steroids sometimes if I’m really bad, but if the injections give me the relief steroids do, without the dangers, it’s a good thing.
So now it goes in from of the South Yorkshire health board to discuss and, hopefully approve.

Hope it’s a good Friday for all of us, my friends xxxx

Andy, I thought DD17 had had the dislocation before. I remember when I used to work on racecourses, jockeys were often dislocating their shoulders, and once it’s happened, it becomes volatile.

Oh no! I’m watching the news to get the weather reports and No! Frozen 2 the film, is coming out. Please, please, please don’t let me hear that song over and over again. It’s time to ‘let it go’

^^^Mags ^^^ I hate when a song becomes an ear worm of intense loathing!

I'm currently down in England but actually as my mum complained last night, the weather is better in my neck of the woods than here this week!

SE, I'm glad you get to see your grandmother, I'm going through the same situation with my dad right now. He s not expected to come out of hospital. Much depends on his speed of decline as to whether I can stay down to the end or have to return.

Andy I thought when I read your comment about A&E that DD had done this before. Give her a gentle hug from Toots.

Keep on trucking Peej. You know just how to put one foot in front of the other and fake it til you make it. Hugs to you too my friend.

Good morning Overs.

Mags, that's good news about your asthma. We have no floods this time but the ground is saturated so it's as if the water meadow is tidal. Each time it rains the area underwater increases. Some of the ponds have been there for six or more weeks, it will be interesting to see if the plant species change to more aquatic ones.

DD17 is being referred to a shoulder specialist. She will then know what her options are. She was happily playing tennis all summer and being ambidextrous served with both arms. She'd be an asset in a baseball team.

Have a good day everyone.

Morning Overs -

I'm in OH, thoroughly enjoying a slow wake up with actually warm coffee by myself, after sleeping until I naturally woke up. I haven't gotten to have a lazy morning this since K was born, and it's such a glorious treat

(((((((Toots))))))) - Hugs to you. I hope you father isn't in much pain and you are able to be with him. More hugs for good measure (((((Toots)))))

Andy - Wow DD17 sounds like quite the talented athlete! Those ponds sound foreboding though....that's a lot of water. Does the ground freeze in your area, or does it stay went through the winter?

Mags - Happy to hear that you are doing a bit better.

Itchy - Hope you moving in is going ok and you haven't had too many surprises.

V- Hope your studying is going ok!

My update: I'm in OH now visiting my mom and Grandmother.

Good news: Yesterday was a glorious, crisp sunny, blue skied day on the farm, with the last of the fall foliage fluttering down gently - rare, as it is usually cloudy and grey this time of year.

Grandma also recognized me when I first arrived. She is awake about 4 hours a day, sleeping the rest. My mom is taking really good care of her, and she looks good, and is happy and good cheer despite the confusion (she does a great job of rolling with it and trusts what my mom says, even if she doesn't always recognize her). Still, the decline is clear, and this may be her last week of being able to get herself to the bathroom with assistance as it's hard for her to breath and move. She has congestive heart failure. This was absolutely the right time for me to come for a visit.

On the home front, MIL is taking amazing care of baby K for me, and had the foresight to bring a musical book that plays the nutcracker, and baby K is OBSESSED with it (books and music are her 2 favorite things). She has asked and looked for me, but no meltdowns when she can't find me, as they are keeping her occupied.

I spent most of the day just talking with my mom - it was the best to just visit.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!
