One Year & Over Part 71
Wow! What a plethora of activity! Looks like the best NY party is right here on SR. Thanks everyone for your updates- I enjoyed reading them very much.
Yes, I was quite the active drunk 10 years ago (shudder) and actively trying to quit. It would take me 3 more years until I could finally pull it together. It feels a bit sharp and prickly to think back to that period - and frankly I haven’t had time yet, but I hope to do that tonight after I put the baby to bed and set aside some me time. 10 years gives me fresh eyes.
IP- great to see you.
Purp - confession. I love to wind down with a David’s herbal tea blend (their actual tea is low quality, but I like the herbals), so I am looking forward to sipping my tea and getting some thinking time for NY
Itchy - Wow. Careful. You might just inspire me to pick up and move. Looks gorgeous. I’m so happy for you.
FBL and Sass - I’m right beside you with needing to make health changes. I’ll bundle the set of health improvements that I need to do and call it the “IVF diet”. Well, that went out the window this holiday while traveling. I’ll be focusing again on cutting out sugar (plus all the other changes like no caffeine) here in Jan. Answering Why I didn’t follow through will be something I hope to think about tonight to make a better plan for Jan.
SW- Ouch! Please share. Good to see you on this thread too.
Andy - enjoy that coffee. I get joy just hearing the word ha ha
Suze - hugs to you. You never cease to amaze me with your caring and thoughtfulness. Thx for remembering my date! I had actually lost the exact date when a tracker app on my phone discontinued, so I didn’t know myself Please give your hubby my best wishes.
It’s my turn to embarrass myself this week. Ha Ha.
Yesterday hubby and I decided to go out to lunch at probably the fanciest restaurant in the area for a rare date while baby K was in daycare. (Rare as in the first time in our entire relationship that we have eaten someplace this fancy). Everyone is dressed their best and fancy, and the waiters were all snobby to just enhance the reputation of the place, etc.
Right when we sit down, I feel a pop. My flip flop (thong to uk/aussies?) that I use to help my Achilles broke apart. No way to fix it. When we left, I had to walk across the whole restaurant and down the sidewalk 50 feet barefoot.
Barefoot through the most exclusive place to dine in the SF area! Not even McDonalds will serve you without shoes! But there I was, doing the barefoot walk of shame out the front door, as quick as my little injured foot would take me, so they didn’t stop and escort me out for not meeting dress code. Dine and dash Ha Ha. I wonder if they thought we were doing a literal dine and dash.
The best part about being middle age is I “frankly don’t give a da%# “ to quote a famous movie line. Hubby and I had a fun adventure, which is what we prefer anyway
On that note, I wish you a wonderful start to your next chapter. Happy NY!

Asthma sucks. I hope you feel better soon, Mags.
New years day. Stayed home last night, migraine threatened...but was not keen to do the whole NYE bit with some sober friends who were doing the big crowd event bit. I am too old for that. I think about practical stuff like toilets, parking, drunks (der) etc. Migraine half psychosomatic, but the pain is real enough. Just sadness and grief taking centre stage for a few hours, no self pity mind. It is 0843 NY day here. Happy, safe and peaceful transition NYE to all you behinders.

Rip my hair out and cry in frustration?
Yes....off to do that.
And drink water and no chocolate tonight and I can't remember what else to be honest. You know what it's like when it's been days. s

Brufen helps me a little- taken with Panadol. Sometimes a very hot shower- to focus water on the throbbing scalp, or a very hot bath- to submerge under the water with only nostrils above to breath- to cut noise...
