Sass- the waterfall is in a national park, about 15k from my home in the Adelaide Hills. It was the first time I had seen it. I love the hills and often 'connect' with nature by driving in the hills/ I have a struggling friend in recovery (she has lots of difficulties) and we walk usually twice a week for a few hours each time. She likes me as I do not judge- or try and 'fix' her (lots of guilt) and I need the exercise. Also I think, she feels safe with me- I call her my little sister..she has been badly used by males in the past. Since I have been through stuff much more life changing because of the severity of my boozing and depression, I just walk, talk and listen (and coffee, there is always coffee).

For a few hours, we both get to feel a little normal. Plus she is the only one I know who tolerates my babblings on about history. Symbiotic. The waterfall is in a deep, sharp and very ancient gorge.

Morning Overs

PJ, it’s lovely that you can connect with someone akin.

We’re visiting in-laws later today.

It’s been raining again here, I’m wondering if those few hot days were it! Summer is saying goodbye for now.

Have a great weekend my friends xxxx

Up a little early this morning. Busy Saturday ahead. Online meeting this morning, then I'll be attending a memorial service for my Aunt (Dad's sister) that passed away last December. Then it's back to the office to meet the IT guy. We had a drive fail on the office server the other day and he's going to show me how to replace it.

Have a great weekend, overs!

Morning Overs

FBL I hope your meeting then your Aunt’s memorial service all went well.

Going to lunch with my step-mum, sister and bil and their son today on the pier at Cleethorpes. Has great fish dishes I’m informed, so I’ll be sampling something tasty.

Also visiting my mum’s, dad’s and brothers grave. They’ve all got separate graves. Though mum’s grave was for two for when my dad passed but now he is in another grave for two which my step-mum has planned to be buried in.

Woke up earlier having a bit of a panic attack about going. I think I’ve settled down a bit now.

Very blustery wind here but the sun is trying to get out too.

Have a super Sunday my friends xxxx

My Aunt's memorial service was pretty low key. Only about 12 of us family members showed up. They had a nice graveside service and her son gave a nice tribute. There was WAY too much food as her son had expected a much bigger turnout. At least the small crowd allowed me to catch up with everyone. They know I'm well-versed in the family history, so they always have some interesting questions about it. Seems I only see my cousins at weddings and funerals!

The online meeting was much smaller than last week. A few let me know beforehand that they couldn't make it. I just don't understand why so many are members of the group, yet don't take advantage of the meetings. I always get something good from every single one. Anyway, we had a very good discussion about setting boundaries and letting go of toxic thoughts and people in our lives.

Have a Super Sunday, overs!

Gorgeous morning here too. Having a family cookout at my parent’s house later on with four generations of my family. As my parents are getting on in age, every time we can get together seems so important.

Have a great day all!

Morning Overs

Star, it sounds like a lovely family gathering.

FBL, I’m glad your aunt’s memorial service went well. A bit of a mystery why member’s don’t turn up for the online meeting. Sometimes people let life get in the way of their recovery and perhaps sometimes don’t have any choice.

Toots, well! We went to Papas, the ‘famous fish restaurant’ and I saw that there was fish Pattie on the menu and having wanted one for a while now thought I’d have that instead of the traditional fish and chips. Just in case it’s only a U.K. thing, a fish Pattie is two slices of potato with fish sandwiched between them, then battered and fried. Nice you say, usually yes!

When I cut into my Pattie there was no slices of potato and what I thought was fish was mashed potato with herbs. So I had overload on carbs with chips with what I call potato cake. To be fair it was my fault I didn’t read the menu correctly. It was Hull Pattie, mashed potato with herbs and batter.

So I’m having a restful day today as yesterday was somewhat hectic. I’ve not been in such a crowded place for a long time.

Have a lovely Monday my friends xx

Good morning Overs.

Sounds like they were selling potato cake under false pretences, Mags.

Have a good day everyone.

Mags, that’s another one (or two?!) English dishes I am not familiar with. Carb overload sounds like an apt description!

Have a good day, Overs

He he he.....that is exactly what I was thinking. And then I was thinking about how much I miss potato cakes and now I may cry a little.

I do really really miss them. I may have to make some.
