Good morning 24’ers! I’m in! It’s a beautiful day! The sunshine is amazing! Life has colors today! Today I am choosing to let’s my ego go, not my will but that of my HP! So grateful to live today sober! I’m choosing Joy today... from my morning reading -
”If people only knew the healing power of laughter and joy, many of our fine doctors would be out of business. Joy is one of nature’s greatest medicines. Joy is always healthy. A pleasant state of mind tends to bring abnormal conditions back to normal.
—Catherine Ponder

Feeling joyful may not come naturally to us most of the time. We may, in fact, have to “act as if” with great effort. We may not even recognize genuine joy in the beginning. A technique for finding it is living fully in the present and with gratitude for all we can see, touch, and feel.

The open and honest expression of gratitude for the presence of the ones closest to us now creates a rush within our breasts, a rush that will be shared by our friends, too. Joy is contagious. Joy is freeing. Joy brings into focus our distorted perceptions. Greeting life with joy alters every experience for us and for those we share it with.

I will bring joy wherever I go today. I will give the gift of joy to everyone I meet.”

“Some days are just bad days, that's all. You have to experience sadness to know happiness, and I remind myself that not every day is going to be a good day, that's just the way it is.” - Dita Von Tesse

5:25am in Alberta, another 24 for me please, and thanks...

Today is going to be a darn good day not to drink!

A couple of months ago I got caught speeding. I was doing 34mph in a 30mph zone and I was given the choice of paying a fine and getting 3 points on my licence or paying to do a speed awareness course. I wanted to keep my licence clean so I chose to do the course and that's where I was this morning. And you know what? I found it really interesting and enlightening. And a bit terrifying. If I'd hit someone at 34mph, I would have caused so much more damage to them than if I'd been driving at 30mph. The course was a really good reminder that the speed limits are there for a reason. I learnt loads of stuff this morning. I learnt all about smart motorways, stopping distances and I got really good advice about how to deal with tailgaters and general stress caused by driving/other road users/screaming kids in car etc. When I turned up at the course, I thought we were all facing 4 hours of getting told off for speeding but it was so much more than that. It was so useful listening to other drivers' perspectives.... it turned out to be a refresher course for driving in general. I enjoyed it and learnt a lot.

Makes me wish there were other awareness courses I could attend every so often.... the 'living with other humans and staying calm' awareness course perhaps..... or 'owners of permanently-hungry Labradors' awareness course......or 'I know your teenager is being horrible but remember it's perfectly normal' awareness course ….. or 'a messy house doesn't make you a bad person' awareness course..... or 'nobody else is perfect either, we're all just muddling along too' awareness course. I'd sign up for all of them.

Part of the course this morning was thinking about the reasons why we were speeding when we got caught. My reason was simple. I was late. As usual. I always seem to be late for something. And the interesting thing is, driving those 4 miles over the speed limit didn't get me to my destination any faster. Instead, it meant I had to get up at 5.45am this morning, drive to the course, sit in the course for 4 hours and now work late to make up for the time I spent at the course. So, rushing and speeding did not save me any time. But, as I now know, the consequences of my haste could have been much, much worse. Lesson learned.

Love to everyone and 24 more for me please xxxx

As it happens darling kent, there kind of are courses/groups for a lot of those things...for example there is Parents Anonymous. Really. And hold on...yep, Labrador Owner Support Groups and clubs, the first one....well....your yoga can take care of handling humans and such.....

My dad was GM for 50 years, so cars were us. And when he taught me to drive, he was VERY harsh. He told me about driving too close, breaking distances, and most importantly to never rush.

When I was 7, my mum had one of those car accidents because she was always running late, just a few Ks over, and our poor neighbour smashed into the rear side of our car, where I was by the way. Luckily no one was hurt, but it was terrifying.

Love you to pieces....so glad you enjoyed the morning. xx ♥♥

24 more for me, please & thanks.

Had a busy few days and missed checking in, so here I am on a catch up check in.

Yesterday was emotional. I had a 121 with my counsellor from rehab group, and so much was discussed that I thought my talking had lost its off switch Lol. Sometime soon she is arranging for us to have a 121 meeting with DAS as she thinks that I need to start looking after my Mental Health in tandem with rehab groups, etc.

It's a bit scary, but I trust this lady and anything to help me move forward in my recovery has to be a good thing.

Weather was atrocious On Sunday, including a horrible hailstorm so no shed clear out and my plants took a bit of a battering However better weather apparently on the way so I am hopeful they will recover and we get done with the shed.

Smart Meeting tomorrow, looking forward to that.

Congrats to our milestoners and my thoughts, prayers and hope to you if you are struggling or suffering.

Hope you lovely 24'ers are having a good day today.

Much Love, SP
