I'm still sober 4.5 months. But I've been having thoughts about switching from abstinence to harm reduction. Would love to hear your responses on this topic. For the next 24, however, I commit to life AF. 12:18 EST. Imagine a friend wrote them, who then came to you to ask your advice on them maybe trying harm reduction.... Don't confuse abstinence for control. My life is great cause I gave up drinking alcohol, not because I somehow learned to control my drinking. I lost a good many things through my addiction and I believe I'd lose more if I started drinking again. I'm done with losing things I love, I'm done with shame and regret over things I've done and and I'm done with hating myself. I don't want to die face down alone in my bathroom in my 50s either. Keep building a sober life you love listae, Thats the right track to be on :) D |

Listae I can’t tell you what to do, at the end it will be your decision. During my 37 years in addition I try controlling my drinking , yes one or two times I was able to do it but buy the third time I was back , a drunk that can’t stop, Good morning beautiful people Well humbly I ask to have freedom from alcohol freedom from drugs for the next 24 hours. Please everyone have a fun, Sunday . |

My mother is back in intensive care at the hospital. I was going to visit her at her rehab, and was so glad. But when I got there, something was terribly wrong. She made no sense. I called the paramedics. At the hospital, my brother arrived and we were told she was in rapid decline. I am home wide awake, waiting..sober. I’m about to lose my mother. I don’t know how to cope. |

24 more please and thanks. Well I am in a bit of turmoil. It has to be said it's sort of nice turmoil. My hubby came over again yesterday, stayed for the afternoon and it almost felt normal. When he left he said he was coming back for good on Monday if that was ok with me.....:a102: I didn't think this was ever going to be possible let alone so soon. I am frightened I'm going to mess up again and it's in my hands. Thank goodness I am going to Rehab Smart meeting tomorrow ,, give me a chance to talk with the group. I need advice. I know I want him back, it's not that it's just I need to get my head in the right place and ensure that my recovery stays strong. Sorry about this 24'ers I'm beginning to feel like an angsty teenager again. Congrats to Milestoners & my thoughts and good wishes to you if you are struggling or suffering today.
