Class Of February 2014 Part 12
Woo Hoo! Number 12! It seems like 11 lasted forever, didn't it? I don't know why but it always makes me happy when a new thread is started, lol. Yeah I know, it doesn't take much to please me.
Hope everyone is doing well!

Happy 4th of July to those who celebrate it!
So fitting on a day Americans celebrate their independence and freedom to be enjoying the freedom from the bondage of addiction!
I haven't drank for 16+ months, but drinking was just one symptom of the toxic behavior underlying my alcoholism. I decided to start acting on the suggestions I was given in AA, and address my behavior. Wow!
I feel like my life is guided by what I want to do instead of what I want to avoid. I'm experiencing something similar to Cas last summer, where I'm finding myself doing little things I've always wanted to do, but didn't, because I was either drunk or too hungover to enjoy it.
Today, with the help of AA and other recovering alcoholics, I'm learning how to build bridges when other people in my life are digging trenches and lining them with barbed wire. Instead of telling them what they're doing wrong, I'm learning how to follow my blissful path.
It has been a long road to get here, but I'm continuing to make progress.
I hope you all are well and enjoying a happy and sober weekend!!

Wow -- SoberLeigh, gleefan, casinva, soberwolf -- are you all Feb 2014? I am, although I never did this group, because I started in Dec 2012. But Feb 2 2014 is my last drink.

I often refer to something you wrote early in my sobriety -- that the more support you could find, the less you struggled. You're very articulate and I felt that if someone smart and pulled together as YOU could figure out how reach out for help without losing herself, so could I. It's helped me over several obstacles and I'm very grateful for that!
Hi Delphine, DiggingIn, SoberLeigh, and Casinva. How've you been?
I'm still here, still sober, and still aiming for acceptance, humility, and serenity in recovery. Sometimes I find it, sometimes I miss, but I keep trying.
I hope all is well with you!
