A Different Path Part 16
Thank you for the update, Dee.
I love the sunset/sunrise analogy. That is how I view death as well.
I am filled with emotion. I did not know Kathy very long. But she was always a consistent and reliable uplifting presence on the small group that visits the gratitude thread daily. It’s strange how any death or impending death makes us think of others in our lives we have lost. I had a close relative who died 3 years ago from cancer. He had a big presence in the AA community where I live. He was 30 years sober. He practiced gratitude every day. The quote in my signature was something he used to tell me. I guess I am grieving his loss again as I grieve Kathy’s.
Wishing Kathy the most peaceful and comfortable joyous journey to whatever lies ahead. Praying for strength for Kathy’s family and loved ones.

Our Darling Kathy
Wishing you a smooth transition from this life to the new one you are excited to encounter to see what awaits you.
May you be surrounded by angels & loved ones on this wonderful journey for you.
May you take the love & kindness of all your SR friends with you.
You will always be loved, respected, missed & thought of every day from all of us.
You have helped so many of us even whilst you have been enduring your own adversities
The love you have for us is immense and has been deeply felt.
It breaks my heart to have to say a final goodbye soon, but may all our love carry you home to your Lord.
I love you Kathy my friend & thank you

Happy travels Kathy.
You made us laugh and cry.
You will have touched everybody here.
But now he needs you up there...
Poem : Mary Frye :
Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

Very nice choices Itchy, I heard my sweet lord the other day and immediately thought of Kathy.
And I second Courages's post Dee, please let the family know how much their communication means to us, deeply appreciated.
Very emotional over here in Eastern Oregon, as we are all over the world.

This is another one of my favorites. My dear friend Matt picked it for his memorial card:
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free,
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard his call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I've found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My Life's been full, I savoured much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch,
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free,
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard his call,
I turned my back and left it all.

I've little to add, since the eloquent & beautiful people here have it covered.
From deep in my heart, I say thank you to Kathy for lessons I really needed to learn - for our fun conversations about Game of Thrones, for teaching me to be more tolerant & kind. I always thought I was, but Kathy surpassed me. All of us want to feel that our time spent on this Earth has mattered. Kathy you have mattered to us, and we will always treasure you.
