Yes, SG--it is sunny today--but unfortunately too windy to sit outside and read. I was hoping to get some natural light therapy today, but it's not practicable.

I'm glad you're not freezing your butt off, Suze!

I just got a call from the new social worker. She is very nice and has a maternal air. We will have an official meeting next Thursday, but she said that many cancer patients expect a quick decline, but are actually left feeling "stranded," feeling sometimes good, sometimes bad.

She said I described the mindset well when I said I was "at a loss."

In her quickie phone recommendation, she gave me the same advice that you guys have been giving: "Take each day at a time and do your best to appreciate something."

Maybe she'll bring some materials to read, too. I hope so--I often get more out of reading materials than I do face-to-face meetings.

Kathy,
I hope you're well today. My log in name is acting really weird, so I haven't been posting or thanking because it comes out as "undefined". I told Dee so I hope things get fixed. My profile is odd too.
Take care. Love, prayers and hugs, Aly xxoo

The next time you refresh the screen, “undefined” will become your real username.

The other night I could feel a leg cramp coming on.

I flexed it every which way, but I couldn’t end up stopping it.

It hurt a lot all day yesterday, but it was really killing me today.

So I got to use the Zen spray I got on EBay for the first time.

It takes a half hour to soak in and take effect, but you guys were 100% right: it’s terrific!

Thanks so much for the recommendation!

I just got my laptop back and am catching up here, but sign me up on that petition, and I promise that I will bake the cake.

I just stopped by to wish you a happy day...but it's almost night, so I will wish you a happy evening and night too. Love you lots.

I went with my husband to the supermarket and I got so weary I had to go out to the van to sit. I can’t make up my mind whether I’m burning up or freezing!

I decided to come up to the recliner and read Harry Potter.

Now I feel great! It’s acting like a tonic!

Opi said to pinch your upper lip to make it go away. I had bad cramps in my foot the other night, but forgot about pinching my lip.

Hi Kathy! Rather, good night.

I read all the Harry Potter books but the last one. Loved them.

Hi Kathy,

Hubby swears by Zen now, (great for his sciatica)so pleased it’s working for you also.

I perchance, listened to the radio other day and it was an Agatha Christie murder on. I enjoyed it.

Hope it’s a good day for you, filled with fun and mind stimulating things. Love you xx

I posted this somewhere else this morning, but it made me thing of the various feelings you have had as you continue this journey and thought I'd bring it here as my morning offering. Rumi is, perhaps, my favourite poet, and this kind of poem is the reason why. Enjoy.

The Guest House

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.

He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice.
meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.
Be grateful for whatever comes.
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

— Jellaludin Rumi,
