Good morning, Overs!

IP, a very belated happy 40th birthday .

Itchy, I learned about the salami thing from a boss I had many, many years ago. Loved it then and still think of it.

Somehow I “lost” yesterday - I wasn’t aware that I didn’t post until this morning when I saw how much I had missed on my favorite threads

Have a good day to all!

FBL, I'm listening now.

You say you're a big fan of classic movies. Can you name for me your top five (or 10 if you have them) movies from the 40s and 50s?

We really like that era, but we have to luck upon them on Netflix or Amazon Prime; there's no specific category on our menu for "Classic Movies."

Don't worry--I promise to keep listening to the meat of your story, not merely fly off onto tangential things!

Fbl, I just listened to all your podcast. Very humbling and from your heart, I loved it! It so resonated with me, reminded me never to sit on my laurels and take my sobriety for granted.

I’m so grateful I found SR and everyone on here.

Wow, where do I start??? I could probably list hundreds, if not thousands of my favorites.

Off the top of my head (all decades):

The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari (1920)
Nosferatu (1922) - two early silent classics

Duck Soup (1933) - Any Marx Brothers will do, but that's my fave.

Bride Of Frankenstein (1935) - Any Universal horror film is good, but that's the best.

The Wizard Of Oz (1939) - Maybe my favorite film of all-time.

The Grapes Of Wrath (1940) - Henry Fonda's best.

Citizen Kane (1941) - First saw it in college film class and still love it.

Bambi (1942) - My earliest movie memory (in a re-release, of course). Mom took me to see it when I was about 4 or 5.

The Lost Weekend (1945) - My favorite movie about alcoholism. Ray Milland deservedly won the Best Actor Oscar that year.

A Tree Grows In Brooklyn (1945) - I cry like a baby every time.

On The Waterfront (1954) - Brando and Steiger in the back of the taxi cab, enough said.

Psycho (1960) - Love me some Hitch and that's my favorite.

The Hustler (1961) - My favorite movie for acting. Newman, Scott & Gleason are all at the top of their game.

To Kill A Mockingbird (1962) - Just love it.

The Pawnbroker (1964) - Rod Steiger gives possibly the best acting performance of all-time.

I could go on and on and on, but I think you get the idea.

The podcast was great, FBL! I really enjoyed it--and I'm glad you had that moment of clarity! You've richly blessed us all as a result!

Good thasng about libraries- is I can watch new movies without having tosubscribe oto stuff. Last 2 were the new Star Wars movies, finishing with 'The Last Jedi'.
It reminded me of when Kirk and the crew did a come back....overweight actors with questionable stories. The first 3 star wars are still the best.

Mind- 'Murder on the Orient Express' with Kenneth Brannagh (?) as Poirot was very good.

Watching a good doco about Byzantia 9again)

I think I may venture out today for a while. I stayed in yesterday and did chores. Or should I say, tried! Pottering, I call it, as I can’t really get into it, my lung capacity seems to be shrinking. A job what took me maybe an hour will take me all day with constant stopping and resting..

I’m going to look into more helpful household tools for cleaning! Or maybe get a cleaner! I’ve thought about it, but knowing me, I’d have to clean it all before they came to clean!

Sorry for the ‘poor me’ pity party. I don’t usually have one but I’m finding how dellibitating my illness is!

Have a good Wednesday overs

Wolf!
Really good to see you posting here. I hope you and the family are doing well. I missed our streaming series reviews and comment.

Sassy,
I think we are of an age and came up training others back when entry level folks weren't texting all day and could be receptive to mentoring.

FBL,
Thanks for the link. I'll get to it directly and look forward to that mellow voice again. You're were born with narrator announcer pipes.

Hi Suze, Andy, Dee, and all the rest late again, nite.

(((Mags)))! It is possible to let go and get a cleaner without cleaning first :-). I finally learned how to do that difficult task. Now I just pick up before my cleaner comes.

Hi Wolfie!

Itchy, yes, I know what you mean. Times have changed.

Hi Gilmer, FBL, PJ, Suze, Andy and everyone else. Have a happy Hump Day!

Thanks everyone! The feedback so far has been amazing. That interview was recorded after a long day, that included my jury duty. The voice was a wee bit hoarse, especially towards the end. We also had some technical difficulties. I was glad that Omar was able to edit it together so smoothly.

Have a Happy Hump-Day, overs!

I was so proud listening to the podcast.

My husband and his buddy came walking up in the middle and I said, "Hey, I KNOW THIS GUY!"
