Had a good Halloween yesterday...took a day off today, cleaning up and winding up some stuff....getting ready for winter...
Day 177 no drinks...one day at a time, staying sober and strong...

Almost six months IWTA!
Battling the AV after work today. I really question my resolve and my future sometimes. I've learned on here that bottom is when you stop digging. I do sometimes wonder though if suffering some harsher consequences makes it easier to accept total abstinence if that makes sense at all.
I know, I should be grateful that I never had a DWI, never lost a job or a relationship. I'm alive and healthy, that's a beautiful thing.

I'll be blunt - I've seen people here., people who become friends of mine, who thought they had another toss of the dice before they had to quit..and they're dead. Some of them around your age.
Don't listen to the AV - it has no interest in your well being or your self preservation - it just wants the next hit...thats it.
I found forever overwhelming too - if you have to break it up into days for now until it's not overwhelming thats fine - just make sure the deal is not only staying sober today but you back up with intent to do the same and stay sober tomorrow too.

I hope you’ll stay with it Jimi and Joy. The risk:reward is just not favorable if you think about it. I’ve accepted that I can’t drink occasionally, and that helps to not feel like I’m missing out by not drinking with friends or on special occasions. It’s your only life. Take it back and treasure it. Love ya!

Congrats!!! Is he playing H.S.? H.S. football is so fun. My eldest nephew played and it was so fun. Now, the twins, huge kids with hair like Troy Palamalou (I'm a terrible speller, so forgive me if I massacred that) and they play for Clayton Valley Charter School, Ranked #3 in their difficult division, maybe NorCal, I can't remember their division. Tonight they're playing #2, Liberty in Antioch. Hoping my nephews win, but Liberty is enormous and they have kids who go to the NFL. The play De La Salle, too, they're kind of famous, just down the street. Now that they're so popular in CA, you can't even get into the games, so I haven't seen them play, except on TV/cable or on the computer. Proud Aunt!!!
Have a great sober weekend. My mother's license got suspended over a long story I won't tell you, so man, that woman thinks I'm her personal chauffer, and anything else she wants. I love her, but she can be exhausting most of the time,

Aly- nice to hear from you. Yes, he is in high school. He is a senior. Next week is the final game. Probably my final organized school sporting event until I'm a gramma. It's bitter/sweet. My mom is high maintenance too. I still think of starting over by joining a witness protection program so none of them can find me. lol but i do love my crazy family.

Oh, joy, you are so funny. I know what you mean. I eldest nephew, is in his early 20's and the twins, may be graduating HS this year, I'm not even sure! It is bitter sweet and almost brings tears to my eyes, watching them grow up. I really do understand that, at least from a doting aunt's point of reference.

Well, Jimi, you always make us laugh, so glad to see you up too, although it's only 10 pm here in CA. You must be around 1 am maybe? When I went to college at FSU in Tallahassee, FL, my dad lived in Chicago and my mom in SF area, I knew all the time zones, but I think I'm rusty.
Hope you sleep well. Actually my mother, whom I love, is just bugging the snot out of me right now. So, I'm trying to not put a sock in her mouth and get through until I have more patience!
