Yesterday was a very tough day for my wife. Stayed in bed the whole day, exhausted and in excruciating pain much of the time. She is finished with the 2nd and last round of chemo and after today has 6 more days of radiation.
After that it will be about two more weeks before the side effects begin to subside. And after that, there might just be a little bit of life as we know it.
I'd really like 24 of THAT, but I guess I have to settle for 24 of this.
Today's quote...
It's never too late to be what you might have been.

Quite an emotional morning .... my 11 year old son starts big school in September and today all the kids his age spend an induction day in the big school. He had to be there at 8.30am but we got there early because I drop my older daughter there at 8am. She naturally got out the car and sprinted away .... didn't want to walk in with us in case I did anything embarrassing like speak or cough or breathe. So my son was one of the first to arrive and he had to go on the tennis courts without me, find out what class he's in (there's 10 classes in each year) and wait in line. I stood outside the tennis court watching him standing there on his own..... and bless him, he kept looking over at me and waving and smiling. Then I saw his best friend (who he's been best friends with since they were 3 years old) walk into the tennis courts and find out his class.... and I was thinking, 'please be in the same class as my son..... please be in the same class as my son....' and then I watched his best friend walk over to my son and my son was smiling and I held my breath thinking 'they're in the same class' and then I saw his best friend shake his head and carry on walking and join a different line. They're not in the same class. Then I watched another boy my son doesn't know walk over to my son, stand next to him and I watched them start talking. And at that point I told myself to start breathing again and to get a grip!! Life is about making new friends, being brave and embracing new opportunities. Maybe if my son was put in the same class as his best friend, they wouldn't make as many new friends. Maybe the school knows exactly what it's doing. Maybe I just need to worry when there's something to worry about. Of course I'm going to be thinking about him all day and hoping he's ok -that's part of my job, but until I know otherwise I'm going to assume everything is absolutely fine. Positive thoughts = positive outcomes. Sending a few positive thoughts to the England football team whilst I'm at it. Can't hurt.
Hope your daughters are OK Jo when they visit their great grandmother and thanks Delilah for your advice regarding dogs. Congratulations to the fabulous milestoners. ... 24 more for me please xxxx
