Hi PalmerSage, thank you!
I think you’re right regarding my dad, and I have let go of that a little and am feeling better about it, thanks
I’m glad you’re doing well. Food is an issue for me too and even at almost 8 months I still have to rely on it sometimes to keep from drinking. I’m glad you found something thats working for you.
Happy Friday

Hope you have a great birthday! Don 't forget to treat yourself with something special! Maybe an inexpensive sewing machine! I am working on an owl door decoration. I plan on making one dressed up for Halloween and a "Santa Owl". I got the pattern on sale at Nancy's Notions with free shipping (the only way to add up the savings). My boyfriend cut the patterns out on a 1/8inch plastic board so I can trace out as many pattern pieces I need forever!
If you ever need someone you know I am here for you!♡CR

Happy belated birthday emme!

I haven't posted for a few months, hope everyone is doing well.

I started drinking again at my son's wedding, June 30th. Only had 1 and 1/2 beers. Compared to my sister who had 3 bottles of wine in 3 days, I thought... I could have done worse.

For some reason, my husband hasn't said anything about it, don't know why...

It took almost a month, but today I bought a large bottle of wine. Just finished my 3rd glass, about to pour my 4th. I was doing pretty good after glass 1 and 2 but now, I wish I could stop. It seems like the shut off valve is broken and I'll just drink until the bottle is gone. At this point, not sure when I'll try stop again.

Sorry I missed your bday Emme - happy birthday..Hope it was a good one

Hi Barbs - I learned I absolutely have the power to call time on my drinking.

If I can make the decision to pick up again, I can make the decision to stop.

It's not easy but it's not impossible.

You're making it harder though by drinking that bottle.
Dump the rest and commit to a fresh start tomorrow?

D

Hi guys. Emme, glad things are going better with your dad. I had a whole thing typed up the other day and then had power issues and lost it.

Palmer, glad you're working through the housing stuff. Hi Chloe.

Hi Barbs-I'm 3 weeks into starting over. It can be done, if you want it. I do.

Dee - I know if I really want to, I can start over again. The problem is, I'm not sure I really want to any more. I'm so tired of the stuggle. Even when I was doing well and feeling good there were always eyes on me to see if I was going to start drinking again. Now that I have, I can see people are a lot more comfortable around me.

Bob, glad you're doing well. I'm going to give myself the rest of the month and maybe start over the first of August...

Yeah my friends were more comfortable with me drinking too - noone likes change....but it was killing me, Barbs.

I can't make you stop right now if you don't want to, noone can - but I really believe addiction is progressive.

Things can and do get a lot worse, sometimes very quickly.

My addiction was great at lulling me into a false sense of 'meh, what're gonna do/gotta die of something/I'm not that bad'

lies.

Barb, I am sorry you are struggling. You will always find support here in the Dec. 2017 Class. Prepare yourself for a sober August. Just take it one day at a time.

Chloe - I drank all the alcohol in the house last night and the fridge is stocked with seltzer water. I'm feeling alright for now, a bit shaky and anxious. I have been forgetting to take my anxiety meds over the last month so I'm hoping over the next few days that will even out. Thanks for asking

Does your doctor know that you are trying to quit drinking but have been struggling? Have you asked for help other than the anxiety meds?

My doctor retired suddenly last year. I did talk with him about everything. I met the doctor who took over his practice and we spoke about it briefly. I have an appointment for a complete physical some time in August.

Hi Barbs, I'm so glad you're back and ready to get on track again. Those sweet puppies need a sober "mom!" Please continue to reach out, especially when things get tough.

OMG...I just got home from work and had all kinds of plans to keep myself busy, but I just got a call that my sister-in-law is threating to kill herself...I am so not prepared to deal with this. I called older brother and he is checking in on her. Now my anxiety is through the roof and all my plans have gone out the window.

I think I will try some meditation.
