Hmmm, a blind man got on the tube this morning (he had a guide dog, a white stick, dark glasses..... ie lots of clues that he was blind) and no one stood up to give him a seat. I didn't have a seat either and I got really angry that no one was letting him sit down. He didn't seem bothered but I was. I was really bothered. So I said really loudly, 'can someone please stand up and let this gentleman sit down?' After that, everyone stood up and offered him a seat.... they were so engrossed looking at their newspapers, phones etc..they just hadn't noticed him get on the train. But the blind man didn't want to sit down. He then had loads of people offering him a seat and he had to say over and over again.... 'it's OK, I'm getting off at the next stop'. Message to self....it isn't always necessary to get involved in every situation. Sometimes it's best to quietly observe and only intervene if necessary. I do seem to have a tendency to jump into things without thinking. Sometimes that's a sign of bravery... often it's utter foolishness. I must be feeling particularly foolish and brave today because earlier I risked the wrath of my teenage daughter by telling her that if she doesn't have anything nice to say to anyone, the least she can do is be quiet. There was a real tumbleweed moment as she silently glared at me after I said that. ... I'm definitely going to pay for that later. Oh well, life is a constant lesson and I guess all we can do is show up each day and try our best. Congrats to all the milestoners, 24 more for me please xxxx

Oh but I see it differently. I think that was a wonderful thing to do. Only thing I would have added is an apology to the blind man for sticking my nose in and then I would probably have made a new friend....what you did was LOVELY.....wait and observe? There are enough people in the world already doing that. We need the people that notice and speak up. :)

And your daughter needed to hear that....and I would bet ANY money that when her daughter is about 16 she will tell her in no uncertain terms what Grandma would say....

You are awesome. Full stop. ♥♥

I am going to meet him tomorrow and start doing work with him vs. my regular therapist (who I am not feeling is helping me anymore.)

I am really struggling. My food addiction feels no better than when I was drinking. I don't know how much of this is SAD- I mean winter is so brutal for me. I just want it to be over already....

I am fairly certain we only have a few more days of cold. By Monday it is going to be full Spring here, so I'm guessing it will be soon for you too. It's hard for me too, gosh, never did the cold before ever, brrrrrr.

I am so sorry you are struggling love....have you ever seen a butterfly try to emerge from a cocoon? It is not pretty. It looks like the butterfly is in pain. You can see the struggle. And then....then....you can see the joy as the butterfly alights, truly free.

Love you very much xx ♥♥

7:50 am in California and checking in another 24. It is a cool day in SoCal, and I am taking advantage of the fact that I have a meeting that starts a little later today, so I'm checking in and reading a little this morning.

I am going to get there early, and try to get some steps in as well, especially since it is supposed to rain later.

Congrats to all of our Milestoners. Sending lots of love to all.

Have a great day everyone!

❤️Delilah

24 more for this alcoholic soul.

Thought for the Day

We're all looking for the power to overcome drinking. When we alcoholics come into A.A., our first question is: "How do I get the strength to quit?" At first it seems to us that we will never get the necessary strength. We see older members who have found the power we are looking for, but we don't know the process by which they got it. This necessary strength comes in many ways. Have I found all the strength I need?

Meditation for the Day

You cannot have a spiritual need that God cannot supply. Your fundamental need is a spiritual need, the need of power to live the good life. The best spiritual supply is received by you when you want it to pass on to other people. You get it largely by giving it away. God gives you strength as you pass it on to another person. That strength means increased health; increased health means more good work, and more good work means more people helped. And so it goes on, a constant supply to meet all spiritual needs.

Prayer for the Day

I pray that my every spiritual need will be supplied by God. I pray that I may use the power I receive to help others.

Thanks, Ertfra. Praise God.
