"Bob, are you a Patriots fan? They did a number on my poor old, hapless Falcons.."
Yes Croutie, I've been a fan for many, many years. Even way back when they were terrible.lol
I'm watching the Saints/Vikings game now. Good one.
Hope your sore heals up fast.

What an amazing game!!!!!!
Croutie, i hope your cold sore goes quickly, I think stress doesn’t help them.
Leigh, it wasn’t flu/cold related though I did catch that in hospital ,. Unfortunately, I had a respiratory arrest , very scary but brought on through lung infections that was lingering. I think I was a very lucky chappie. Lol.
Have a good Monday Julyers

My houseguest from Oz had a doctor’s appointment today. She does need surgery, and it’s happening Thursday afternoon.
After that it’s two weeks of complete rest (I hope for her sake it’s not bedrest; she is a very on-the-go person.
She says that in Oz everybody is always outdoors when they can be. She had been hoping to shop for clothes and kids’ items at our stores, and she had also hoped to get out to several wineries for tastings (count me out of that!).
The thing she really, really wanted to do was go to our place in the mountains. We’d been planning to go this weekend, but with her recuperation that’s not happening!
I hope she’ll have time to squeeze a visit in at the end of her rest period. She might have to fly immediately back.
I’ve got a big coffee table book about the history of the Greenbrier resort (she will like the 1800s grandeur and the history (vacation place of presidents). But hands down the most fascinating thing about it is the massive fallout shelter underneath it, built in the late 50s in case the Cold War got heated: the bunker was big and comprehensive enough to house the President and the entire US Congress!
They give tours of it, which is why we decided to go there for our 25th anniversary. It was extremely cool—but there are only a few rooms that they’ve kept intact: a couple typical dorm rooms (all bunk beds), the kitchen, the cafeteria, the infirmary, and the very cool decontamination tunnel, which is guarded by a 25-tin steel door!
A shuttle bus brought us from the hotel to the bunker; then it let us off and we all walked right through the gigantic door and through the tunnel. I’ve learned that they don’t allow people to do that anymore.
Most of the rest of the dorm rooms have been converted to data storage centers for a railroad company.
Anyway, it’ll be light reading with lots of pictures that will hopefully keep her from getting too stir crazy, all cooped up in a foreign country.
I also ordered a couple of other books that she might find useful and interesting.

Wow, Leigh! It was “outed” in the early 90’s! Did you go to the spa?
Two words: Scotch Spray! HOLY COW! Greatest thing ever!
After I got back I raved about it to the two ladies who worked with me.
“Oh, gross! Sounds like a concentration camp!”
“Ew! Like being hosed down in prison!”
IDIOTS ! One of the best things I’ve ever felt in my life!
Our church pitched in and bought a 20th anniversary trip to the Greenbrier for my pastor and his wife.
When they got back, the first thing I asked was if they got the Scotch Spray. She didn’t, but he did! Instantly we started screaming and laughing and high-fiving each other right there in the lobby! Unbelievable!
Apparently the big sealed-off room that used to be a “mod” nightclub in the 60s has been transformed into a casino. The resort is so big and it’s in the middle of nowhere, so I think they were losing money hand over fist.

I remember the first time we went, I couldn't imagine where in the world we were going - probably one of the most remote places that I have been.
I have never seen the casino.
They did have a bowling alley when I was there.
Haven't been back to the Greenbrier in years.
Did you drink from the Sulphur Springs?
