24 Hour Recovery Connection Part 318
Good morning - really looking forward to reading WeaverBird's dog bath update. It reminded me of the time I went to pick up the dogs from the kennel they were staying at while we were on vacation. I rang the bell to let the owner know I had arrived, and she walked through the door dripping wet. Before I could ask her what happened, she said, "Soooo, it turns out Izzy doesn't like baths." Apparently only the poor woman - and her husband who jumped in to help - got a bath. Izzy came home dry, a bit stinky, and quite pleased with herself.
Anywhooo, just checking in for another 24 before heading up to Olympia for the holiday weekend. I'm hoping to be able to check in each day, but if not, I'll look forward to seeing you all next week.

Great story, olyrunner.
Safe travels, dear one.

Good morning young wonderful people
I stay home today.
In September I went off my depression meds. All at once and I think it wasn’t a good idea now I’m back with it hope to be less crazy soon.

The Magic of Gratitude and Acceptance
Gratitude and acceptance are two magic tricks available to us in recovery. No matter who we are, where we are, or what we have, gratitude and acceptance work.
We may eventually become so happy that we realize our present circumstances are good. Or we master our present circumstances and then move forward into the next set of circumstances.
If we become stuck, miserable, feeling trapped and hopeless, try gratitude and acceptance. If we have tried unsuccessfully to alter our present circumstances and have begun to feel like we're beating our head against a brick wall, try gratitude and acceptance.
If we feel like all is dark and the night will never end, try gratitude and acceptance.
If we feel scared and uncertain, try gratitude and acceptance.
If we've tried everything else and nothing seems to work, try gratitude and acceptance.
If we've been fighting something, try gratitude and acceptance.
When all else fails, go back to the basics.
Gratitude and acceptance work.
Today, God, help me let go of my resistance. Help me know the pain of a circumstance will stop hurting so much if I accept it. I will practice the basics of gratitude and acceptance in my life, and for all my present circumstances.

Good afternoon. It's Day 7 for me, but frankly, 7 days is not really much of an accomplishment for me. As a binge drinker, I can easily not drink for a few weeks at a time. The real test will come at 21, 28, 35 . . . days. However, I am grateful for almost 7 days sober, and today I will not drink.
I hope everyone has a rewarding Wednesday.
