Good morning from a very windy and rainy Scotland. Another weekend done and dusted folks, hope everyone is feeling good this Monday morning. My daughter has some errands to run so I'm going there to help out before work. Busy day ahead but an enjoyable one. Have a good Monday everyone.

Good morning everyone. I have decided I'm tapering - 6 beers yesterday, 4 today, 2 tomorrow. This means that my last drink will be on my sisters birthday which seems fitting as I'd promised her I'd stop drinking.

Here we go again...

Hello all,
Made a list of the pros and cons of not drinking today. The list of pros is very long and contains some big, important stuff. The list of cons is really quite short and basically says 'because I (sometimes) enjoy it'.
With that in mind, the fact that I am craving a beer as my day at work comes to an end tells me that I am 100% addicted. How is this drug so widely available?

Good morning everyone! I'm getting ready to face the brutality of Monday morning against all the odds. The weekend flew by much too fast, per usual.

I had a nice time at coffee after the AA women's meeting yesterday. It's a really nice group of ladies and I felt really good after. As one of them said "there are as many ways to work the steps as there are people in the meetings". It is comforting to know I can tailor the program to fit my needs and take only what works for me.

teaorcoffee - good for you with the biking. Don't worry about the eating, it balances out. I did some exercise yesterday despite really severe arthritis pain and I felt better after. I guess I just need to push through the pain.

OK, time to get ready for work. Let's do this thing.

And it all goes horribly wrong... I left my wallet in a black taxi cab on the way home after lunch. These are all independent so very difficult to trace. I lost all my cards and £100 in rent cash. Frustrating to say the least...

Oh well, I'm determined to stick to my taper and not to drink to excess on it. Onwards...

Hang in there Path - you can do this - hold onto that long list.

Keep going forwards.

V-man, this is good news, and good that you are in a good place yourself.

Now considering food again - yep I'm hungry again, but did 70 km today, so feel ok about it. Leana - as long as the cravings are for food, I'm not too worried.

Hello again, all.
Tuesday is going well here. Hope yours is too.
Can anyone recommend any good books for me to read which will both occupy my mind and encourage me to stay sober?
If there are any movies out there, again a recommendation would be useful. I watched 'Amy' last night, which has had a very positive impact on my sobriety today.

morning everyone.

riding again today. today will be the first time for years (possibly since I was about 14) that I celebrate my birthday sober. That is a sad statement indeed, but I guess at least it's happening now.

Unsurprisingly I've woken up hungry. I think this is just the way this week is going to go

Morning all and happy birthday tea or coffee! Hope you have an amazing day!

Forwards I do hope you get your cards and money back, keep going!

V man, that's great new about your brother and you are showing him what is possible day by day too.

I'm off to work again, yesterday was ridiculously busy but should have a bit more time to plan and organise today. I have Thursday and Friday off but that just means I need to get more done on Tuesday and Wednesday
!

Not complaining, I'm lucky to have my job but sometimes there's just not enough hours in the day.

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday. 😊

Happy Birthday teaorcoffee!

Having a quiet day today prior to going out later this evening. I must admit that I'm finding tapering harder than I thought but have found some useful websites that provide guidance. One of the interesting ideas is to buy a cheap breathalyser and only allow a drink once it reaches zero. You then increase the time spent at zero progressively until completely abstinent. If my current plan doesn't work I might give this a go...

Onwards... Forwards...

Don't string it out, Forwards. It's not like you've been drinking for months again.

I'd make it as short as I can.

I'm with Dee on this one.
I think it's actually easier to be abstinent than focused on tapering, but that may be me - not much good at saying no once I've started
