Day 7, and feeling like a whole new person! Here is to 24 more and pushing back into the work week. Happy (American) Football Day! Go Pack Go! Have a great day all!

One week ago I was sneaking a bottle of rum into the movie theaters so I could get drunk while watching the movie "It" alone. When I left the movie, the bottle was gone and I was trashed. I drove to the local arcade and played video games for a few hours and continued to drink. I somehow made it home that night, and vomited over the railing into my downstairs neighbors yard. These behaviors weren't uncommon for me. One week later, sober, motivated, and much more emotionally stable.

If I can do it, anyone can.

Notice the difference between what happens when a man says to himself, I have failed three times, and what happens when he says, I'm a failure.

S. I. Hayakawa

What happens to us when we call ourselves names like "failure" or "dummy"? We feel we're no good and never will be. We want to stop trying because we think we'll flub up again.

But what if we begin to use different words to describe the same results? It won't change the results, but it will change us. And it will change the way we see our actions and ourselves.

Just by changing the words we use we can feel better about ourselves. Saying, "I've failed three times," means we'll try again and again and again until we succeed. It means we know God doesn't make any failures or dummies. It means God is always with us, loving us and helping us, even when trying seems difficult.

What can I change my thinking about today?

24 more for this fool melancholy romantic and alcoholic in need

For the love of a woman
I played with fire without knowing
It was me who was catching fire
I drank from the pleasure fountains
Until I finally understood
That the one she loved was not me

For the love of a woman
I gave away everything I was
And the most beautiful things in my life
But that time I lost back then
Will prove useful to me
When my wound heals properly

Still, everything seems like a dream to me
But I know that in the end I will be able to forget, one day
Today I feel sad but soon I will sing again
And I promise I will never recall yesterday

For the love of a woman
I cried and bordered insanity
While she just laughed
I broke a crystal in pieces
I let the blood in mi veins run loose
For I didn't know what I was doing

For the love of a woman
I gave away everything I was
And the most beautiful things in my life
But that time I lost back then
Will prove useful to me
When my wound heals properly

We are always here for you, Neo!

I hate things hanging over my head, too. Having the court issue resolved will be such a relief.

I know it's not the same Neoo but having the weight of the blood tests taken away has been a transformation for me this week. I feel sure getting the court case done and dusted will be the same for you too. Long term anxiety is utterly draining. Not long now mate hang on in there!

see how you feel when all the crap stuff is out of the way. if you still feel low and unmotivated.. have a chat with the doc. I sure many of us know how you feel.. we KNOW exercise.. or getting out and about ..or having a hobby will help..but finding the motivation to do it is a battle in itself. The pub is a weird thing. I struggled at first.. Saturdays at football revolve around the pub from morning to night.. i had to change my mindset..and realise everyone in there was so busy getting sloshed.. nobody really cared if i drank or not. . And the few people that did comment.. i told them straight.. i was on a slippery slope, and chose to get off, apart from the fact in 5 years heavy drinking i put on 4 stone. But you do realise how totally stupid and pathetic people can look when they are plastered. Good luck again for tomorrow. xxx

Thank you Pebs, I am going to stay well away from them anyway as a few people are not happy in town about me fighting that night. I am not worried about them but they would love to see me taken up on another charge and then jail would most likely be on the cards and my solicitor said to me I can not afford to get into anymore trouble. It is not worth the risk I am putting alcohol and all the trouble it has caused behind me...
