Good morning,
So happy to be sober which gives me the power to adjust to life, and make shifts in my thoughts and actions, instead of just ruminating and drinking over everything. Nothing changed, nothing got better and I felt sick all the time.
Ruminating and suffering over mistreatment or ugliness is a habit I developed while drinking. I felt powerless to deal with it and withdrew. I caught myself replaying something the moment I woke up--agonizing....
Then, I was like...wait!!
. I can be free of those types of thoughts. It isn't easy, but when I was drinking it was impossible! I am becoming aware of my thoughts and can question them. How could I look at that situation differently? How could I deflate this? I love how sobriety makes this possible. I don't have to be victimized any more...not by anyone else and not by my own thoughts and habits.
I am starting my day over with gratitude and love. So happy to be here with you and be free of that nasty, sad poison. Such a long way to go in my recovery but it's happening. The feeling of freedom and the ability to truly love others is amazing.

Canadian Koala, that picture is AMAZING!!! I don't know what you do as a living but if you set up a business creating greeting cards, I think you would be a very wealthy koala indeed!!
I will be toasting Venus and Goat at 9pm UK time with a glass of sparkling elderflower water. I feel so excited for them .... can't imagine how they must be feeling!!! Love everyone on this thread so much - it's such a great thing to be part of xxx
