Toots, as often happens when I'm up a bit early I follow you around in the threads

PJ, great that you will have an exhibit early next year! And good to hear you have a friend.

Itchy, you are one super dude. I'm not all all surprised that your SH loved your gift. You obviously put some real thought into it. I'm happy for you that the two of you are so good together :-)

Have a good Thursday, Overs.

You are a lucky man, Itch.

Not much new on the Fran front. She's still in the hospital and they are slowly weaning her off the breathing tube. If all goes well, she should be back at the rehab center in the near future. It was exactly two months ago that she had the accident.

Have a great Thursday, overs!

Hi overs

Itchy, I'm pleased your wife liked the gift, that was so lovely. I hope your aunt keeps safe in Coba .

Fbl, Fran has been through a lot in two months. She is one tough lady.

Been to docs, I'm back in antibiotics and prednisolone. At least I'll be able to breathe.sigh. Sorry about the moan..

Mags, I'm sorry the nurse dismissed your complaint. From looking at your records she should have known that you suffer from chronic serious breathing problems.

I'm glad the GP gave you the antibiotics and steroids you need. Glad you've got some relief now.

That's a lovely gift, Itch! I'm glad it was such a nice anniversary.

I hope you start feeling better Mags!

PJ, it's exciting that you will have an exhibit. And I think you are probably still coming out ahead drinking coffee instead of alcohol.

Itchy, I am happy Mrs. Itchy loved the ear rings! I hope that your aunt can ride the storm out safely.

PJ, is it coffee time?, I'm on the decaf at moment as its middle of the night and I may get a few hours kip before work.

Thanks for the kind words friends, it means a lot to me. Started the steroids so should be running around like a two year old soon! But mainly I'll be able to breather normally.

I'll be pleased when the weekend is passed and Hurricane Irma will have hopefully died out. Keep safe.

I stopped drinking coffee about a month ago. I was drinking a lot for work, and on vacation I stopped and when I got back I made the choice not to resume drinking it, applying a lot of the lessons that I learned at SR. It's obviously not as a life changing as not drinking alcohol has been, but it's nice to give my body a rest from shocking it with caffeine.

Good morning Overs.

Itchy I'm glad your evening went well.

Mags I hope the meds kick in and give you relief.

PJ we have lots of independent tea/coffee shops opening. They make a nice change from the homogenised Starbucks etc,. (other coffee shops are available)

Have a good day everyone.

My little city- beneath the grime and tedious faces of suburban stressed out workers does have a unique heart beat. A nexus for this is the small- themed coffee shop. Offering simple- quirky food at pocket change prices. 2 young- bursting with enthusiam guys have3 a crappy old ute- with a crappier old caravan with an old generator for power. Basic barrista coffee- which is always good- but with stuff on the menu like- nutella (chocolate paste with nuts, apparently) on toast, crumpets and vegemite...
More to the point- people stop and talk, share and engage...without the emphasis of alcohol. Suits me fine. It gives me a safe place to socialise with people who are at that tenuous time of recovery. A safe risk if you will.
So coffee? Bring it on.

I'm crawling away with my tail between my legs: lately I've had such unpredictable reactions to coffee that I've had to switch to half-caf!

PJ, glad you've got that coffee shop :-)

(((Mags)))! Feel better soon The second time I was on prednisone I found myself madly cooking at 1:30 am I was so wired. It's a drug that I swear I will never take again but I know that I will if the symptoms it fixes are bad enough

I love coffee but after drinking 8 cups a day in college, I find that I can't tolerate more than one cup a day. After one, I feel a small tug to have a second but that goes away in about 5 minutes.

And guess what day it is? It's .............. Day :-)

Today marks 3,000 consecutive days sober. Never thought I'd be able to make that claim.

No POETS day for me as our summer hours are over. I'll be all alone in the office today, which means I'll have to stop and answer the phones. Hopefully I'll be able to make at least a bit of headway on my project.

Have a Fantastic Friday, overs!

Congratulations FBL....that is an amazing milestone!!

Gilmer- I have to watch the coffee too. I love it but I can act strange if I over do it. lol.

Mags & Saskia- I have never taken prednisone before but my dad and husband have and it does make you really feel good and hyper. My husband knows he will be up all night when he takes it. lol. My dad went on major organization sprees when he took it.

I slept in until 9 am! I must have needed it. DH came in and checked in on me and made sure I was stick kicking....then when I got up he said "good afternoon"

Hi all -

I caught up on just the last few pages. Glad to hear people are on the mend.

FBL - I'm sorry to only catch on now how much Fran has been through. Hope her transition off breathing tubes is smooth.

Mags - I'm happy that the prednisone works to help you breathe. I hope you have minimal side effects and don't have to stay on it for a long time.

Congrats Itchy on 45 years!

OOTT - Congrats on cutting out coffee. That's quite an accomplishment in Seattle! I tried to eliminate it for years, but it was hard to give up that routine. Ironically, one of my earliest pregnancy symptoms was a complete inability to tolerate coffee - hoping I don't go back to it when I am sleep deprived as a new parent.

I'm now 12 weeks into pregnancy and thankfully this week the awful nausea is starting to ease. I gained 15 lbs (eek) in 1 month eating bagels & butter all day long, but thankfully I've been able to stay steady this week and manage symptoms with no weight gain. Typically gain is between 1 - 4 lbs by this point, so I was setting myself up for some serious issues if it continued. In other good news, I can once again tolerate fruits, veggies, salads. My new favorite at the moment is banana, berry, spinach smoothie, greek yogurt with lots of ice.

It's such a relief to go from being in the 'out of control' feeling state that I associate with my addiction to having things working again. I think you can all empathize with that feeling. (NB: I wasn't drinking and didn't relapse- it was the bagels being out of control)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Sassy, yay it's POETS day , ,
And yeah it does give me energy (mind you not to cook at 1.30!) but I'm sort of happy, but that's because breathing is no effort at the moment. Had an asthma attack at work this morning, think it was my coughing which started it. Embarrassed myself again, but a couple of my colleagues are brill with me.

I only had them a few weeks ago but as soon as I came off them I went downhill quickly, so until they can get a good relief med for me, they keep giving me them. Side effects are bones crumbling...in about 20 years and damage to some organs...but for now I can breathe.sigh.

I stopped drinking coffee the first time I stopped drinking for 8 months, I got really bad withdrawals with my muscles, doc said it was the coffee. I didn't mention the drink I don't think.I do have coffee at work, and I like it And I've read it's good for Asthmatics?

Have a great weekend overs, laugh, cry, be safe, be happy, but mainly be sober......I think the prednisolone meds are taking affect!
