One Year & Over Part 53
I do remember Itch - I'm aiming to put a few more runs on the board yet before I close my innings
I'm sure you're with me on that

Itchy, yah - my surface 3 also has Windows Hello built in. Sometimes immune systems aren't too helpful even without drinking and smoking. Mine tends to be either over-active or, on the meds they give me to tame it, underactive.
I am frequently reminded that I should carpe diem while I still can. That no longer includes the really unhealthy stuff like booze and tobacco but there are some things I don't get stressed over.
Have a lovely Saturday to all!

Hi overs, a wet Saturday here!
Itchy, not heard anything yet from ent, I'm wondering if my doc has forgotten to request it as asked by the specialists at hospital. gonna chase that up next week. My sister has several times asked me I'd I've had a thyroid test, for over/under active thyroid gland. She has had it most of her life and I seem to be getting similar problems as her.
When I had good health, I didn't appreciate it, just lived, took it for granted. In fact, I abused my body with booze back in the day. I can't live my life again, so I must do what sassy mentioned and Carpe Dieme.
Hope it's a good weekend for everyone.

Carpe Dieme absolutely. I wonder whether it is the 'rebirth' of recovery, or an age thing or a combination of both, but suddenly a body wakes up and realises that this isn't playtime, this isn't a rehearsal, this is our one and only life, that I for sure am more than half way through. Things that bothered me before, my weight, a few wrinkles, what other people might think or say about me... None of that matters any more. I wake up and think what can I enjoy about today? And go ahead and look at making it 'my' day.
Today, I will be watching my wee grandson playing soccer. Missed a couple of game with being at my folks and then being ill, and Tuesday I head back to Spain to start painting the exterior of the house. So today I will go and cheer him on.

Good morning Overs.
Enjoy the footie Toots.
We had a good day yesterday meeting cousins that I haven't seen for years. It was interesting that out of the six adults at our table only two drank wine and only one glass each.
Have a good Sunday.

Toots, absolutely! Occasionally something will still get my knickers in a twist but I work at more acceptance when that happens. My current one is a resident who is bright but not practical. I ask for patience
Every now and then I wake up realizing how happy and grateful I am to be sober!
Have a beautiful Sunday to all :-)

Andy, it still amazes me how many people don't drink at all, or might just have one. I surrounded myself all of my life with folks whom drank as much as I did, and that became my view of normal.
Saskia, I agree. Today was one of those mornings that I hope up and thought to myself how grateful I am to be sober.
Have a great day all!

I feel its very empowering.....being sober.
I can go do what I like without being wasted most of the time as I was in the past.
We got our lives back, so fortunate and so grateful for that.
We can take on anything that life throws at us.

The thing I really love? Is that I don't have to plan things around where I can access alcohol, or the petty feeling of knowing I'll have to wait until after the outing to get a drink. Which meant I never really enjoyed a trip fully because I was so focused on getting to the 'after' . Now I can plan a day around doing something I want to do, seeing something I want to see....and that's it! So freeing!

Hi all,
Just wanted to check in and let you all know that I am doing well and still sober. I am spending much less time on the internet these days, and I have to say that I am the happier for it. Very busy with both work and non-work activities. About as busy as I can tolerate. I very much like my quiet time on Sundays.
