Checking in for 24. Spent most of yesterday being inert. Slept a lot. Did some household chores. A bit of exercise. Wished the cold weather would ease off a bit ! I have forgotten how taxing work can be. Overall, I remain very grateful to be here. To be alive and sober. To not give up.
Congrats to the milestoners. Kudos to you all. I often imagine that we can bring all our hope and strength to lift those who are suffering. Let there be no more suffering.

My kids and I watched this really interesting thing on TV yesterday about how animals don't see the full range of colours like we do. Apparently they can't see red and green. After it finished, my youngest asked, "mummy, what do you think is a cat's favourite colour?" I thought about it for a while and based on what we'd just learned I said that I thought a cat's favourite colour is brown because it can see the colour brown and the mice it chases are brown and the tree trunks it climbs are brown.
My youngest replied, "wrong!! A cat's favourite colour is purrrrrrple!"

24 more for me please. It's a relief that I'm feeling like being sober is just how it should be again. I dont miss that whole chaos of being ruled by wine. Planning it, buying it, hiding it, pretending I'm not drunk, unable to drive, not being dependable, fear of every ache or pain, anxiety, self loathing...........I could go on........ nope don't miss that at all!
4 more sleeps till my babies come home! Massive hug fest when they do!

Jo, I kept meaning to message you to send my congrats to your daughter for her fabulous GCSE results. My eldest is only 11 (starts senior school in a couple of weeks - eek!!) so I'm not at the GCSE stage with mine yet. However I read in the papers last week that the way they marked this year's papers made it harder for the students to get top grades. So full respect to your daughter for her amazing results. You must be so proud and I bet you can't wait to give them both huge welcome home hugs. Not long now Jo xxxx
